Can I buy a Ruger LCP .380 from a cop buddy?

I have a hunting buddy who is a cop. He has an LCP he bought in CA as a backup but he doesn't like it and wants to get rid of it. Nothing to do with the gun, he just has giant hands and I don't, so I want it.

So the LCP is legally in CA and he wants to legally sell it. Can I just go to my local FFL and do the deal? I don't want to break any gun laws and jeopardize my own permit. I'm in Ventura if anyone knows an FFL locally who will handle this transaction.

I know this has been covered before but it seemed to center on transfers from relatives.

As long as the gun is legally in the state, it can be transferred to anyone via PPT and transerred and transferred again. Any FFL will handle that for you.

As keith said. Yes you can.as long as its PPT. I got one from a leo. He want to get rid of it and get a kahr pm9.
