The bill or the petition?

The bill has passed committee and is waiting for a senate vote, I believe. It seems very likely to pass. You can see the latest here:

Being a history buff, I find the AB 1934 disignation ironic...It would have been really ironic and even more chilling if it came out as AB1938 (the year of the Nazi "gun control" law that disarmed German Jews...but 1934 was also an auspicious year for Hitler and his band of Socialist thugs. That was the year of "The Night of the Long Knives."

The petition needs some work. The OC ban applies only in urban areas, and therefore does not apply on ranches and farms. It specifically exempts hunting, and a bunch of other activities from its scope. (Which is actually one of the major defects in the bill--each cop will have to have a copy of the law to see if it applies in any given situation or whether the observed activity is actually lawful.)
Now, I am not suggeting that the proposed law is a good thing, just that the petition would be stronger if it accurately reflected the contents of the actual bill.

Maybe I misunderstood, but the latest CRPA issue they list AB1934 as including carrying while hunting and fishing which was my main concern.
thanks for the info.

It excludes those activities from the ban. All it really seeks to do is change the law in urban areas, with the law as it is now to remain everywhere else.

This will give you a summary of existing and proposed law for OC, including the A(presently presented) positions for and against. Note that the argument against is not very persuasive.
