Well, if in reality you are spending 50% in each place, it will go down to where you can prove you live. For example do you have cable or internet at both places? at only one? The sheriff would understand that there may be no way to get to a mailbox-where I lived in PA we only had PO Boxes as well. Anyway-if your DL is from OC then you're gonna have a hard time. Even in kern when I had a mistake on my DL (I have since moved from where I was when I got it) They made me go to the DMV to printout where my current address is. Then they had to ask me about where I lived prior in Kern county and where I moved from. (in my case it was PA) Obviously if you have your cat, bed and tv in one place that would be your residency. If your first thought is OC when you tell someone where you are from, that could be where you "live".
I don't know very much about your situation, but don't try and fool the system. I, like everyone on this site, believes that we should have the right to arm ourselves for our own protection. However 2 wrongs don't make it right. If you really spend more time in OC, then apply there. If your life situation makes it possible to move to SB full time, and turn on electricity, cable, phone, get your bills sent there, etc then wait a little while and apply there. But like I said, if your cat and dog and spouse (if you have one) all live in OC, and you go there 6 nights a week-thats where you should apply. Best of luck PS: I know at least one person who moved to Kern county because he couldnt get his CCW in San Fransisco and as he said "I can get a job anywhere, Alot of good a job is gonna do me when I'm dead. I'll move to a place where I'm allowed to carry." He still has his job in SF he stays there 2 nights a week for work then comes down to BF and does the rest of his job here. ![]() |

Chuck
I had the same situation with OC and San Diego County spending half the time in each. It is not as cut and dried as a few have posted here and I was NOT trying to "pull anything off" either. Having autos registered at both, utility bills, IRS address at one and voting in the other, things just are what they are. It was simple to explain in the interview and back up with written material also. Have Greg Block review it and get some feedback. PM me and I can forward my phone number and we can talk. Most of the time this forum is extremely helpful unless someone gets up on the wrong side of the bed. Good luck on your application and I agree with the post above, apply in OC and get it going! Don't be afraid to ask questions, that's the purpose of the forum. |

To the OP specific question: Nothing prevent you other than money to hold even multiple residency, but you need to pick your primary. My wife DL and voter is in one residence, my DL and voter is in another and I hold dual citizenship, a residence, DL, CCW and pay property taxes in another country. Simply put, do it right and you should not have any problem. Your multiple residences should not be rented though, even for short periods of time to avoid raising flag.
