Default Thoughts on holster. Considered "concealed?"

Would use of either of these holsters be considered concealed?

I'm not trying to skate the law on this. I'm trying to find something that won't frighten the Sierra Clubbers while out in the desert. Both of these look fairly unassuming...

Not to be unfeeling or insensitive, but why do you give a C R A P about what the bunny huggers think? If you are carrying a firearm openly in an area where Loaded Open Carry is legal, wear what is most comfortable and retains the weapon. You also want to be able to quickly access your weapon if you need it.

Is there any place in CA where Loaded Open Carry without a CCW is legal? The OP lives in Orange County, which is too large to issue for open carry permit...

Would the holster be for a camp gun? Or do you have a CCW and just not the ricepaper icon?

He specifically stated "out in the desert". One can LOC on any BLM or National Forest land that is not a National Park and where discharge of firearms is legal. I do it when I am out in those areas. Especially in SD County because of the "international traveller" issue.

12025 f (there may be other subparagraphs that need to be citedbefore (f).... but its late and youre on your own to find them- Knock yourself out http://romandad.com/12025.pdf )

Quote:
(f) Firearms carried openly in belt holsters are not concealed
within the meaning of this section.
Bottom line-

Is it a belt holster? Then its not concealed.

Just make sure youre not wearing a long shirt or coat that will cover the holster.... Then youre probably screwed.

Yes, they are belt holsters. Thanks RD, I'll look thru the statute.

T-52, I feel much the same way about the "bunny huggers," however the location where my family has it's mine (it's located near Owen's Peak in the Inyokern area) also has a lot of historical significance to it. When people find out that I'm actually a decendent of the original claimholder, and related to the current claimholder, they want to ask questions - and I want to tell them the history. To some folks, having a large firearm hanging off of the belt doesn't make you real approachable

So you need to carry open, not concealed...yet not quite "in your face"...in that case, those holsters look pretty good. It would not immediately be recognized as a holstered gun by the average tourist, yet most people who are around guns would immediately recognize it. Just my opinion...

Erring on the side of caution, I would avoid the second one. However, I can't quite tell from the picture if the grip or barrel would protrude from the leather. If so, I withdraw the comment.

I think I'd concur with that..... Im thinking the barrel might actually extend out on that? Otherwise thats a pretty timy gun.... Regardless, youre going to want SOME part of the firearm exposed... Just to avoid the hassle.
