Default Comp-Tac Single Mag Holder

I know several that have asked what we use to carry an extra mag. I recently bought the Comp-Tac Tek-Lok Single Mag Pouch and really like it. You can adjust the cant on the holder 360 degrees in 45 degree increments. The clip is also adjustable for belts from 1.25" to 2.25".

The really nice thing about it is that you can put it on without removing your belt. Just unclip it and slide it on. It comes with another clip (not pictured) that blocks it from accidentally opening and falling off your hip. (I'll update this later with my own pic.)

I really like it because you can carry the extra mag horizontal if you don't like it poking you in the side or gut. It also has a tension adjustment to set for release of the mag.

Good idea. Especially for full size magazines.
I use Comp-Tac paddle style mag holders but they are strictly vertical.

I have always struggled with mag carry. How do you like it? do you not find it catches all the time.

I just put my mags loose in my pocket, seemed much easier.

Unless I have a suit coat on I don't carry extra mags. The 9 in my 1911, the 5 in my 342, or the 7 in my G are enough for the one in a million chance I have to fire a round or two. What with the cell phone, wallet, keys, gun, etc., these days I am running out of room.

It does catch a little, but I blame that on my mag. I have the extended floorplates on my USPc mags. Because it flares out, it catches on my shirt sometimes. I think once I get the standard baseplates on the mag it might not do it.

This problem might go away if I carry it bullets pointing up, but that is awkward for reloading.

I normally carry the extra mag in my pocket. Less items on my waist.

Single Stack .45:
Shorts - in the left pocket. Jeans - cheapie Aker OWB mag holder. I have a couple IWB mag holders that didn't work out and now protect the bullets from dust in my third mag that lives in the car.

Glock:
I have to be in a pretty bad neighborhood to carry more than the 15 rounds in the first mag - but it's happened. Then it goes in a off-brand Kydex OWB mag holder.

Had same problem until I tried the Fobus paddle single mag holder. For some reason it keeps it tight to the body and out of the way.
