SOB holsters are great in principal but not practical. You can not drive with then on and if you fall backwards its going to hurt. Its a long draw as well, there is lots of shirt to get in the way. I have one from Glaco and love it but its not used that often.

A good friend of mine came by last night to see me at class. He is 6' 4" and 370 Lbs. He carries IWB.

That's good to know. Thanks!

I have found a product at Duluth Trading that really helps the IWB holster. They sell suspenders that only attach at two spots: directly under the arms. If you wear an open over-shirt with a t-shirt and belt the suspenders are invisible and provide such support to the trousers/shorts that you can wear the waistband much looser to accommodate the holster and still not sag. Works for me. I love my Aker's Model 152 for my Glock 26. It is a single beltloop tuckable. I initially found my "love handles" interfered with the draw. The addition of the DT suspenders solved the problem.

5'11" and 285 here, and I have the Hank Hill "nega-booty"... belly but no butt to speak of. I can't carry anything behind the hip or else my pants slide down, unless I cinch my gunbelt so tight that it makes me want to puke.

I have a G26, 19, and 30, all with Comp-Tac belt holsters. I don't CCW yet, but I have been approved in OC and will be carrying as soon as possible. The G26 disappears under a tee shirt. The 19 and 30 need thicker garments. My recommendation for fat guy OWB carry is twofold...

1. Good belt and a holster with loops exactly the same size as the belt. My Comp-Tac holsters have 1.5 inch loops. I tried using a 1.25 inch gunbelt (Beltman, the good stuff) and the little bit of slack allows the holster to fall away from the body a bit. Using the 1.5 belt (again, Beltman) makes a big difference with just a tee shirt.

2. A little forward cant can help with OWB. My holsters are all straight up and down... with the G30's width, I think some forward cant will really help. I may see if I can return the G30 holster and get one of their adjustable cant holsters to play around with it.

IWB is really uncomfortable for me, I can't wear behind the hip due to my lack of a booty, but I think the right gun/belt/holster will work OWB just fine. I hope that helps!

I'm 5'8", 170 (not fat, but small, a bigger challenge if you ask me) and I carry the Glock 27 with no problems at all.

In 3+ years of carrying the first thing I learned is that I can conceal a larger gun than I initially thought I could....

SVTNate,

I'm not quite as beefy as you, but I do have the inverse butt thing going on... I have had to start wearing suspenders to hold up a gun. They really work great. My wife found me a pair of suspenders at Wally world that loop under your belt - work REALLY nice and easy... Like these, but in beige...

I personally love suspenders. When I had a job that required a suit I had suspender buttons sewn into all of them. You never have to fix your pants no matter how much crap you have in your pockets!!! For pants with suspenders I use a Garrity Gunleather clip-on waistband holster that works excellent.

This is one of those "Consider the source" recommendations....
I've been CCW for a grand total of 5 days now... so my experience is, to say the least, very limited.

Nate and I are of similar size and weight and I've doing fine with an IWB holster... A few weeks ago, based primarily on comments from this board, I ordered a Crossbreed IWB for my Glocks. Worn at the 3:00 - 4o position (right hip point to just behind hip point), the holster fits tight against my body (maybe it's my body fits tight against the holster) and a slight grip forward cant keeps the weapon against the love handles but not too tight. So far, both Glock (22&27) are nearly invisible even when wearing a t-shirt.

I'm considering ordering another Crossbreed for my Kimber... I've tried in the Glock holster and it conceals even better then does the Glocks. I am worried, however, what the Kydex might do to the Kimber finish...

So far so good with IWB carry even for the full size Glock.

Rick,

Couple of things... The 'breeds are great. Now...

Get rid of the Glocks and by my Kimbers. Life will immediately improve, as will your complexion and luck with the ladies!!!!

Come on, beige is a womans color...

And buba, "Flesh Tones" is no longer PC... (when's the last time you opened a box of crayons and found "flesh" as one of the colors? Long time, right?)

The proper color discriptor for men would be some thing like Desert... or Camel.

I HATE that I know this....
