Default Cowhide vs Horsehide...

I'm interested in ordering a Milt Sparks versa max II for IWB carry.

I'm trying to decide what material to order... cowhide or horsehide. I'm told that horsehide lasts longer, but then I've also read that cowhide can last just as long. Would cowhide form better to my gun? I know some people even go with sharkskin trim.. does that help or is it more for bling?

I appreciate any suggestions/comments.
thanks!

I also worried about the choice of materials, but I finally just got the "off the shelf" VMII, it was fantastic, I am not sure even what it is made of, I think cowhide, bought my first one from Lightning Arms, great product!

Horsehide is a much denser leather than cowhide. In theory that makes it more impervious to absorption of water (sweat). It's also, in my experience, a much rougher feeling material. All of my holsters are some flavor of cow or cow+kydex.

Unfortunately in California we are not given the option of kangaroo leather which is REALLY nice stuff. Weighs far less than cow and is much stronger oz for oz.

As for sharkskin, it seems to be a purely aesthetics thing.

I have a plain old MS VM II and I am completely happy with it.

The only complaint about MS holsters is due to wait periods, etc, the possibility of obtaining one for every concealable weapon I have is practically zero.

Some day I'm gonna get me one of them horsehide or cow hide things... right now I'm carrying a polymer hide holster...what kinda animal it comes from... a Kydex or some such....gots to be one tough animal to get the hide off of it....It too is impervious to sweat and last a long time...
