Default IW. and underwear

Please bear with me.

I wore my new leather IWB holster today. It's the first IWB Ithat I've ever owned.

The big problem is the leather likes to stick to my skin. It sticks pretty tight actually and makes changing positions a bit uncomfortable and it's awkward trying to work myself free.

My question is: Will the leather eventually stop sticking to me once it's not so new or am I do I face giving up my freedom and buying a bunch of boxers?

Now this is funny!

What brand of holster? My Milt Sparks never stuck to my skin. Not a boxer type either.

I figure in 5 posts, a mod will lock this thread.

Hmm. If it's the upper half of the holster sticking to the skin on your side I would say try wearing a t-shirt underneath.

It's the lower half that sticks to me and the holster was made by Brigade Gun Leather.

Me question is serious and knowing that there are a lot of guys who wear IWB. I thought I'd swallow my pride and ask.

Never really had that problem.

My milt sparks sticks to my skin about as much as my crossbreed holsters, which isn't much at all.

I tend to wear an undershirt during the week due to work so there's not much to stick to. On the weekend the MS VM II holster works just fine with a tshirt. I've been suitably chafed by by CDP that the all important callus (scar tissue? heh) has formed so I don't even notice the thing there.

Have yet to experience the leather to skin thing. I carry IWB Milt Sparks or TT Gun Leather no problems with or without a tee shirt.

I've never had that problem because the holster sits between my pants and my shorts. It never touches my skin. Now, if I didn't wear a t-shirt underneath the slide guard would probably stick to my side.

are you going commando? I've never had that problem with my TT IWB holsters. Only thing I can suggest is to try an undershirt. Not the best advise to give during the summer.

yep, whether wearing boxers or going commando I have never had the TT Gun Leather or Milt Sparks holster "stick" to me.

usually i forget the holster is even there but I do always know I have my Ultra CDP next to me.

Well better change holsters or go with under shirt. I sometimes wear Under Armor type shirts under my buttom up or outer t-shirt. Mostly because there is one little area on the end of the grip on my CDP that likes to poke me. Not because the leather sticks to me. Tuck under shirt into underwear.

Don't forget to sit on stool for balance.

45 seconds with a very fine metal file seemed to fix that problem for me.

That little piece tore holes in about 10 undershirts and gave me some nice scratches before I realized that something a little more "extreme" needed to happen.

Couldn't be happier now.

As for the "sticking" - thinking about the various holsters I have, I have a horsehide holster for a p7m8 that most definitely is tacky worn next to the skin for more than a few hours. Probably why I never wear it (and thus forgot about it). Also, there's the whole smelling like soggy leather thing.

I see we exceeded CCWIs prognosticated locking. Something in the universe must be very wrong. I think I'll go check the water heater for leaks now.....

If the leather is unfinished, get some mink oil and rub it into the unfinished side near your skin. That will help to keep it from sticking. An undershirt or underwear will help you out as well.

I have some leather holsters that stick a little if I get sweaty; I try to remember to wear an undershirt with them.

Good advice. I was looking at my CDP over the weekend and came to the same conclusion. But man not sure if I have the heart to do the surgery. What the heck it is a carry gun right?

Something for everybody...

Bodyglide Anti-Chafing Skin Protectant - 2.5 oz from REI.com
"http://www.rei.com/product/769120"

They sell products such as this in hiking/cycling stores, I have seen this stuff for sale at REI, might work.

There is something wrong with smelling like a sweaty, soggy horse?

Mtn Medic,

Thank you so much for starting this thread. After consulting with others, I've decided on an IWB for my future CCW. I have been wondering about this very situation. This info is very helpful.
