Default Holster for my XD

I am picking up my Springfield XD .45 acp 5" tactical on tuesday. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a good holster for concealment. I am not too concerned about cold weather months but more so the warmer times. I am a 5'9" 165 lbs and am average build.

On another note I was digging around and saw a link to the center of mass lock boxes. They look awesome. Planning on buying 2.

You guys Rock!

Thank you.

That's a lot of gun to conceal in the summer. I have a service model on my permit but rarely carry it, it's just not as comfortable as my smaller frame guns. My suggestion is to get a decent holster but don't spend a bizzilion bucks because after lugging that tactical around for a couple of months you will looking to down size.
Just my 2 cents!

Well they do say that "carrying a gun isn't supposed to be something great but instead a burden that CCW permit holders carry." I just choose to carry a slightly larger burden

You get an "A" for Attitude......However experience tells me that in the end, practicability will reign!....You might think about getting the smaller version.
We have all gone through that! .

Big "Cojones" eh. . .Well I'll try not to disappoint anyone. I aim to please

*eeehhmm* Moving on. Does the smart carry work fairly well with the muscular/slim builds? Or is it designed for the fluffier boys? I hear it works very well.

If your shoulder/waist ratio varies enough, you might be able to get away with an IWB for your XD. It should be fine if you're on your feet, but sitting "comfortably" for any length of time will not be fun. The grip will stick out when you bend at the waist also. A Kydex holster like the CTAC by CompTac is a favorite of many people. I have one for my XD45 Service and it's doable if I'm not going to be doing much sitting or bending over. With the right cover garment (long shirt with an uneven pattern), even bending over might not be much of an issue.

My first carry gun many years ago in Utah was a full size Kimber, that lasted about 30 days! I then switched to an HK USP Compact and now I'm down to an XD9SC or my Glock 23.

That's a good point, kidding aside, I have been tempted to get one as well as a belly band.
Do these SmartCarry work?
Anyone here actually owns one, and uses it?
Please, give us a report.
