Default Fanny Pack "Screams" Gun unless

you have your local "shoe/alteration" store sew on non-gun patch such as a Harley/Nikon/Motorola/LA Laker/New Balance etc patch.

Good idea! If you REALLY want to throw 'em off, have one of these put on

Yes, but that could get you shot!

Default Fanny Pack Song

I had no idea there was a song about fanny packs.

I carry my second set of glasses in one from time to time.

Had a transient hassle me at an In-N-Out Burger a few years ago. Showed him the glasses and didn't buy it - He stated rather loud he thought I was a cop. My wife laughed and said "Who him?". I replied "No". He left.

I use it when the weather is HOT!

My boys think it is way out of fashion - even for a tourist. Oh in DC last year I got a lot of questions from the guards at the attactions around the Great Mall. Tossed it on the x-ray and no further issues. Even got sniffed for gsr once. I was happy it passed.

It is my Man Purse - though smaller than many I see in The City it passes when it has to.

I wear sports coats more often these days. A fanny pack just doesn't fit the atire.

I got one from Wal-Mart of all places for $5. My ruger P345 fits it like it was made for it. I'm left handed and the zipper just happens to open from right to left so drawing is very simple and does not snag.

I used it all last summer and whenever I cannot dress to conceal. It must work fine since no one has "made me" when carrying since I carry my wallet and phone in it too. My mom is very gun paranoid and she has never noticed I carry.

In short, it saved me from spending over $50 or so...

Post "Harley-Davidson" Fanny Pack

Howdy:

Recently took advantage of Kickin' A Packs 'N Stuff, Inc. (Tommy's Gun Pack) special promotion and purchased their small fanny pack (Kahr PM 9, NAA .32 Guardian, Baby Browning .25 Lightweight). Since I ride a Harley, I immediately had a Harley-Davidson patch sewn on my black fanny pack.

My fanny pack doesn't draw any attention (exception - this past Sunday 6-1-08 at an Israel Expo in Irvine) since I wear it when I'm riding my Harley (every weekend-weather permitting). I find my fanny pack a more efficient method of carrying while riding since my OWB/IWB holsters have briefly been exposed while riding due to wind reaction on clothing etc. Exposure while riding is a non-issue now!

If you are really concerned about being "made", IMHO, a non-black fanny pack draws less attention to it plus sewing on a non-gun patch (Nike, Canon, Porsche etc) adds more camouflage thus less attention.

How about a "free candy" patch sewn on?

Default Fanny Packs

When someone comes into my store with a fanny pack or a stuffed toy (gangs in Ontario used to carry guns in their girlfriend's Teddy Bears), it SCREAMS "GUN" !!! Unless you are in a vacation area where everyone is wearing fanny packs, I would advise not to. You will certainly get my attention. Until I am able to clearly identify you as a non-threat, I will exercise extreme caution with you. Not the most comfortable shopping experience for either of us.

If you carry concealed, carry in such a way that you do not advertise. It is well known/urban legend that dirt bags carry weapons in fanny packs. I would prefer not to be classified with their lot.

In my opinion, carrying concealed is between you, God, and the law. I don't advertise, and a fanny pack does....

Last weekend I had to do some physical repair work at my business. It's the kind of thing I was better at 15 year ago, a lot of bending over, kneeling on the ground, occasionally lying on the ground and working over my head.

If I'd been carrying the way I usually do, IWB under Hawaiian shirt, I'd have been indecently exposed much of the day. In a fanny pack it wasn't printing or exposed. It may have screamed "Gun" but not as much as another rig would have.

Of course, this was at my OWN place of business. YMMV.

Last night I went out to dinner at a very busy restaurant. About 50-60 walked by me during that time. I notice most people, but the only one that caught my eye was the guy wearing the fanny pack. It was leather and I would have guessed a Galco based on the gold clips it had. Not sure if he was carrying or not. I can imagine how quickly and easily fanny packs are picked out of crowds by LEOs and those that know.

A couple of years ago I was going out to dinner at the Wind and Sea Restaurant in Dana Point. As I pulled up to the valet, the guy in front of me hopped out of his car and reached in to pull out a fanny pack and proceeded into the restaurant. I immediately told my wife "That guy's got a piece". She asked me how I knew and I told her there's no other reason to be toting a fanny pack around. Once we got into the restaurant, the guy walked up to me and said "Hi, how you doin'?" I then realized, much to my chagrin, that it was a CCW firearms instructor I know! It was NOT our own beloved CCWI though!!

That's bad when you can make a CCW instructor.

And that is a very small percentage of the population. Most people don't know. They have no clue about carrying guns, and fanny packs. For them, a fanny pack screams "tourist" not "gun!"

Especially when you complete the ensemble with shorts, black dress shoes and white knee high socks.
