Is that for your "used" gun?
How about the Galco version? I'll see if I can get a pic and a wabsite of the model I am referring to.

Oh, sorry, BTW, it was a Disanti model. Check the S&W site and type in your model in search. You will get about 4 sites for holsters for your gun.

May I ask how you like your Redhawk? Stainless?
Thinking of getting one. I'm a big fan of cross-draw holsters. And while I was looking for holsters, this is what I found. Last edited by Idaho Joe : 04-19-2008 at 02:11 PM. |

I love the gun. We broke her in w/ 50 rounds this past Sunday while I was down in SoCal. I have another post that you can probably find that hi-lights the differences between the Ruger and the S&W. I like the grip, and the fit/finish is superb. I've only one time shot a better DA trigger, and it was a custom race gun. Recoil wasn't bad, in fact my 7 year old put a round down range with it. A few other guys shot it that day. Maybe they'll chime in. The Simply Rugged is ordered, i haven't heard yet when it should arrive.

I, too, am considering the Ruger Redhawk in .44 mag. Beautiful in their satin stainless with wood grips; though probably more practical and user-friendly with the big, rubber wraparounds. ![]() I'm gonna shoot some revolvers at the Turner's Shooting Fair the 1st Friday in June out at Raahaugs in Corona. I'll decide then if I'm going to get one or not. I may spend the money instead on another Garand from the CMP. ![]() |

First - No lock and silly little key Price is better cylinder locks up in front at the crane and at the rear into the recoil plate, so it doesn't shake loose as easy as the smiths. From what I can gather, the smiths, when fed a diet of full loads, will need to be rebuilt. It will never happen with the Ruger. ejector rod does not rotate so it won't come loose and lock up the gun. the cylinder bolt notches are cut a bit off center this makes the cylinder wall thicker at the thinnest point than the others, nice when you want to shoot those heavy loads. :-) Congrats on the VMII! I don't think I could wear this one IWB with the VMII - just too big. I did get some loops on the Simply Rugged holster so I can TRY it IWB, but my guess is it will be OWB pancake style.

Congrats on your new baby.
What is the barrel length on your Redhawk? (Geez I should read titles - 4 Inch). My first serious pistol was a Super Blackhawk .44 Mag with the 7.5" barrel. I couldn't wear it in a strong side belt holster, because my side would cramp up trying to draw it! Had to carry it cross-draw or in a shoulder holster. Found the Bianchi shoulder holster quite comfortable and I could wear it all day long out in the field. Sucker was so long it had a belt loop to keep it in place! I miss that gun (damn burglars ).

thanks for the quick response. I finally have time again to play on the computer....
My VM II will be for a K-frame I plan on carrying in AZ. It's a 2.5 inch S&W 66. Old style, no stupid lock. I may change my mind, but for now that's what the order sheet says. Looks like I will go to Montana this fall to hunt deer and elk and I need a .44 Mag or a strong 45 Colt. I have a super blackhawk, but it is a 7.5 incher and way to big for holster carry (for me that is). I am thinking 4 inch DA or maybe a 4 5/8 inch SA for strong side carry or across the chest. I know I would like stainless. My dream would be the Freedom Arms with the 4 inch...... |

They offer the same gun in .45 colt. It's a real nice cartridge too. I haven't checked to see about bullet selection though. The FAs are VERY nice, but I just can't rationalize the price right now. :-)
