Default Concealment tips for women?

Anyone got concealment tips for women? I've figured out I could hide a gun easily in an ankle holster, but it's hard to get to. Hiding anything larger than the seecamp around my waist has proved problematic. I have a purse with a holster, but I would like to be able to carry on my body as well. Suggestions?

depends what type of clothes you wear.

Some prefer IWB, some prefer pocket carry, while other women carry in their purse.

There are WAY too many choice. Like Mike stated, it depends on how you dress, what you carry (as in a purse, fanny pack, etc) and the size of the gun you want to carry. I can only guess that what may work for a man's build may not work as well for a woman when it comes to a IWB holster since women are generally more pleasantly curved.

I've seen some great purses and bags that have quick access flaps. Maybe some of the "softer", good looking members of the forum could chime in with some good starting points for choices.

Someone at Burro yesterday had a "fanny pack" with a holster compartment that I was real impressed with. I wish I could remember who that was.

I'll keep an eye on this thread. I'd like to see what it produces.

Perhaps you were talking about the one I was wearing: Tommys Gun Pack

Bear in mind that fanny packs kinda scream 'GUN' though, so I restrict that to hiking, range day, etc.

And also, if you do use a fanny pack, remember to practice drawing without sweeping your weak hand. Tommy's has a nice picture of the Gun Pack where the weak hand is getting swept by the muzzle. Not a good choice when adrenaline is pumping.

Hi there. Like it was mentioned earlier it depends on your frame. I enjoy the in the waistband style. I wear slightly oversized shirts or shirts that do not require tucking in.

True, especially with the tendency Glocks have of shooting your off hand.

Back on topic though: The Tommy's pack doesn't really hold the gun as securely as I'd like for serious carry. For women, I'd recommend trying the smartcarry too.

I bet if we put our heads together, we could come up with a pretty sizable pile of different kinds of holsters for Nightingale to try and see what works for her.

That'd be nice... I can't afford to buy a ton of holsters just to find one that works.

I've been asking the same question...The Gimper & ChrisG decided to do some experimenting the other night - I borrowed AMS Mikey's IWB holster (Since I don't own one) & ChrisG belt (since I don't own one of those either)...I believe the conclusion we came to that evening was that IWBs and low rise True Religion jeans were not good friends. However, with a slightly loose t-shirt or hoodie, I could totally pull it off - which actually really surprised me.

Yeah... Pretty much all my pants are low-rise, even my suits. I think that's half the problem when it comes to concealment, but the higher waist pants just aren't comfortable, and sticking a holster and gun in the waistband isn't going to help any.

I hear ya...I've already accepted the fact that if I ever do carry, my rice paper will come complete with a new wardrobe...

That's the one. Agreed, it could be a "flag" to some, but certainly worth looking into as an alternative.

Thanks.

Still doesn't give you good positioning for your gun for quick access. Concealment is only 1/2 of the equation. Being able to access it quickly when you need it is just as important if not more so.

Consider a belly band. I see one at the Tommy's website. I have an "Action Direct."

I run around and wrestle with my dog on the floor. The weapon has never budged. Very comfortable, and it doesn't rely on any connection with outer clothing at all. No telltale snaps or loops on your belt, etc.
