I asked Hgygliac to join in the thread and give us his opinion. I found a thread on the other forum I inhabit with an opinion from an owner of both. He had some interesting comments:

VersaMax II Vs TT Gunleather

the MTAC is a kydex outer with a leather inner against your skin. It's very comfy.

The VM2 works well for the 1911s that are so popular around this forum.

I do still own a VM2 for the Glock 30 and it works well for that slightly larger and heavier pistol.

The loops are actually easier to slide my belt through than the Milt Sparks, so I can reposition the holster and pistol forward or backwards as I see fit while I am wearing it. Sometimes I wear it at 2:30 and sometimes at 4:00. Time frame from order to getting it on my hot little hips was 11 days, considering that he had to make the actual holster. I'm wearing it now with my Kimber Ultra.

The modification that I requested is as follows. The opening is reinforced with kydex and runs behind the chafing shield. The Milt Sparks runs between the chafing shield and the pistol. I asked that my next two orders approximate the milt sparks, that way it is one continuous, smooth piece of leather that is in contact with my baby soft skin.

Any of you guys are welcome to try my holster. I'll just switch to my other two pistols, its about time to rotate anyways.
yesterday I loaned my spare TT holster to SonojKing, he wore it as we were practicing and I could not tell at all that he was wearing it. The best part is that having a CCW, I know more or less what to look for and the holster and pistol just disappeared under SonojKing's shirt. I told him to borrow it for a week so that he gets the feel. When he returns it, any of you guys that are local to OC are also welcome to try the holster for a week. I am also having Tim, again from scratch, a holster for my Sig 239 in .40.
My three favorite IWB holsters are my Milt Sparks, my Alessi and my TT Gunleather.

What? There's a 1911 following on this forum?

I've heard nothing but good things about the VM2 (other than the wait to get them) as well as the MTAC from the XD crowd that has them on the OTHER forum. Maybe it deserves a little more consideration than I've given it. I may be judging it too much on it's overall appearance and how it attaches to the belt.

My Summer Special "knock-off" just doesn't give me the warm and fuzzy I'd like to have other than as an appendix carry, but then it doesn't use as sturdy materials as a lot of the ones like it.

Being as it's cooler right now I'm able to use an OWB daily without any issue, but come Spring and Summer I'm hoping to have an additional choice. Call me silly, but I'm trying to NOT wind up with a "holster drawer".

Silly . . . I said the very same thing back then, I wish all I had is a holster drawer. Curiousity got the best of me, good thing was that I bought quality holsters. They make great give-away gifts.

Thanks, I thought I was going nuts!

Reading through that thread I remembered it. Thanks for your input and for pulling all that together for the "search function impaired".

Thanks for the update. It sounds and looks like TT gunleather has a great product.

If or when I do go IWB I will need to purchase some larger waisted pants.
