California is not a traditional open carry state. Open carry is generally prohibited except in unincorporated areas where the county has not made open carry illegal, or, pursuant to a CA open carry permit issued and valid only in a county with a population of less than 200,000 persons. OpenCarry.org

Here in Humboldt County open carry is allowed. Also in Del Norte County, Trrinity County, and Siskiyou Counties at least.... Just have the firearm in plain view, not partially exposed from under your jacket. I use Military Surplus web gear with leather holsters for open carry here. Yet I also have my "License" for concealed carry in California.

I really like leather for holsters. Either an inside/ outside the waist band, shoulder holster, small of the back, fanny pack, etc. Bianchi makes quality gear... That and plastic holsters are not what this Jarhead is used to using. Put my Colt model 1911 in a piece of plastic!! It's feelings would be hurt, at the very least!!!!
This is so wrong I would have tear it apart sentence by sentence to correct it. Not interested.

Plus it IS NOT what this forum is focused on.

If you want to learn more about open carry, go to opencarry.org and read and read and read and learn. THEN go to the statutes and read some more. THEN write down EVERYTHING including Cal code numbers. Then look at what you've written think about it, and go back to opencarry and ASK QUESTIONS to confirm your deductions or get set straight.

Open carry in Cal is LEGAL if you do it right. Assuming that it is not a "traditional open carry state" starts off on the wrong foot.

RobP - I was answering a question using a "quote" off of opencarry... I do carry a concealed weapon about 90% of the time, for almost a decade now in California. If you would have read further down, I mention my preference of leather holsters over plastic for concealment!

Sorry if you think my trying to clarify something that was asked in a post on "open carry" was inappropiate. I have checked with the County of Humboldt - Sheriff's Office on this issue in the past. Every county has it's own rules... Feel free to add any more comments..
