Default IWB Holster - Comfort or Combat Cut?

Last Summer I ordered a Crossbreed Super Tuck IWB holster. Not knowing what would work best for me, I thought, I will be carrying to draw when needed, so I ordered a combat cut. I am very happy with the holster. It took some playing with the angle and depth to get it right, but it is working.

When the Kholster sale came up, I another IWB and ordered a full moon. Getting it broken in, I wear it around the house. Wow, when I sit on a hard backed chair and the grip of my carry pistol hits the leather instead of my thin nylon undershirt, it is really comfortable! However, I can't get my thumb between the grip and leather of the holster and drawing is ackward. Maybe once the Kydex stretches, I will be able to draw without my thumb on the grip. If it doesn't work, I can trim the leather.

How has anyone tried both comfort and combat, then decided on comfort?

I started with the Supertuck in the standard cut, and wore it for a few months. I had the same problem you have, and eventually I cut it myself into the combat cut. I've worn it daily for about a year that way, and am much happier knowing I can draw with a secure grip. Comfort is still quite good, though admittedly not quite as much as the standard cut. When I order my next ST, it will certainly be in the combat cut.

Thanks night doc.

I might experiement with cutting a place for my thumb and leaving some leather to stop the grip from cutting into me. My combat cut is more comfortable if it is just the right place. If it is too far back, it can push against me. I find that the best position is about 3:30. But every pair of pants is a little bit different and putting the holster in the best position first thing in the morning doesn't always happen.

I also started with the standard cut for my G20 and had the same problem plus it pushed the mag release 2 times when driving 11 hours. I ordered a combat cut and love it. I feel no change in comfort. I get a full grip and the mag release is just outside of the leather ,but doesn't touch my skin.I cut the first to match the combat cut.

Order a TT Gunleather "Mikes Special" All your issues will be solved. Most comfortable holster I have.

Yep, 3:30 or 4:00 seems to be the sweet spot with my ST.

I have a kholster for my Kahr PM 9. Once the leather breaks in, it tends to curl over the top of the gun. (unless you're super skinny, but I'm not). As it breaks in customize the height, cant, and trim the leather. Don't be in a hurry. Amazingly comfortable holster. I forget I'm wearing it most of the time.

If you're waiting for the Kydex to stretch, you'll never use this holster.

It is the leather under the kydex that stretches?

That could well be. It certainly molds itself to your contour.
