Default Looking for help finding an open carry holster for a 229 classic

Most of the holsters I have come across are designed for the newer style 229 with a rail and the concave trigger guard. The classic sig 229 has a slightly convex trigger guard and NO rail.

Any help is much appreciated.

The original P229 is my primary daily carry pistol. I have three holster that I regularly. 1) Kramer Horsehide IWB #3. 2) Kramer MSP Paddle. 3) Blackhawk Serpa

On the Kramer holster you have a choice of cowhide or horsehide - All my Kramer holsters (and belts) are horsehide. Number 1 from above is over 20 years old now and still going strong.

I like the Galco FX suede lined belt holster. There are always custom and made to order holster options, but IMO Galco holsters are a pretty good compromise of quality workmanship at reasonable prices.

Besides, for something as fine as an old school non railed SIG P229, the suede lining is the least you can do for it.

FWIW, if your P229 is a 9MM, any holster for a P228 should work as well. If it's a .40/357, they are slightly (very slightly) bulkier in the slide and frame, and though a leather holster made for the P228 might still fit, it'd be a tighter fit and you might get a little more holster wear.

Default Thanks for replying

I am still investigating the carry option for the SIG, and I think the SERPA is what I am looking for. The responses are very helpful.
Thanks again.

Word of warning, there have been issues with the SERPA's and ND's...search the site for more information.

I carry in a CQC, and have had no issues, but in the interest of fair warning...

What were the issues with the Serpa? Is there a website for the CQC? What size belt do you have to wear with that?? I don't want to have to drastically change my wardrobe to accomodate a carry holster, but if the need arises...

I almost ordered a serpa holster but decided to go with Safariland ALS OWB paddle holster. I read the serpa is harder to conceal because of the sharp edges seem to print more, but I have no idea since this will be my first OWB holster and I dont really know that to expect. And I liked the idea of the release with your thumb instead of your trigger finger like the serpa has.
