Default Winter The Season Of CCW!!

Ok posting over in the general section about Winter CCW gave me a little ambition. Not to mention I guess a chance to be a public flaming target!!!

I love Winter as far CCW is concerned. Lots of jackets, sweat shirts, sweaters you name it to make life easier when trying to conceal a CCW.

Last weekend I spent most of it with Jeans, tucked t-shirt and sweatshirt on. It was relatively windy and cold and the sweatshirt works great! Wind is not a factor and the bulk conceals about any handgun you would like to conceal.

So I will start with my casual Xmas dinner party outfit. Utilizing a 1 1/2" Beltman belt, a Milt Sparks VMII cradling my Kimber Ultra CDP II.

In the last photo my the belt loop to my front is at 3PM. My CCW is at about 4 PM. You can see my back right pocket right behind it. Because I had to turn in an awkward position to take the photo in the mirror it looks a little off.

Next up. I have been fighting my everyday "work" carry situation for a while. I work in an office where I typically wear slacks and a dress shirt. Though I know they make holsters "including the VMII" with clips you can tuck around. For me that option just did not work. The printing was to extreme. I had to relegate myself to off body carry a lot of the time. For next summer I hope my PM9 might be the key we will see.

So Winter comes around and I go out and buy a couple of on sale and relatively inexpensive sport coats. Ones made in a material that do not wrinkle easy. So I can keep it on when I get in my truck, or while I sit at my desk. So here you go. BTW this time a 1 1/4 Beltman belt, "I have one in black and Cordovan to match different dress shoes" MS VMII and Ultra CDP.

I am sure you notice my shirt over the top of my grip in this shot. I too noticed that. For one my arm is out at a very strange angle so you can see better. Also when I draw the shirt tensions moves it well away from the grip.

So that is it for now. I will say carrying with an under shirt is very comfortable as compared to my Summer carry with just a Tommy Bahama and no undershirt. With one I almost forget my CCW is there.

Ok flame away!!!

Oh and yes I know the sports coart is not Don Johnson, Armani!! Maybe next year! These Kimbers are $$$$! LOLOL

Oh I hope you like the Christmas Tree background in the second shots. I conned my wife into taking those shots. So I figured a little Xmas spirit was in order!!! After all it is the season of CCW!!!!

Last Monday I did a bad thing, A really bad thing...
I did the same bad thing on Tuesday... and I liked it... A LOT!
And now I may have a problem...

Monday I had an all day meeting at work. The kind of meeting where suits are the norm and the suit jacket is worn all day. Getting ready for work I stumbled across and old leather holster... and OWB Holster. Just to check it out I put it on, dropped in a Glock, and it felt GOOD, REALLY GOOD!!! So I kiept it on and headed for my meeting.

By the time I got the meeting the OWB carry felt sooo comfortable It would have been easy to forget I was packing.

Yesterday and today I was out of the office visiting cusotmers... wearing the typical business uniform of sports coat and tie... and again I went OWB.

Now I think I'm hooked...

Don't know if I'll be able to go back to IWB any time soon...

So,,, it looks like I may have to become the "over dressed" guy... Every meeting or office has one... so why not me?

"Hi! My name's Rick and I am addicted to OWB!!!"

Rick,

I hear ya. I have a Milt Sparks OWB holster that I have been breaking in. "it is a beauty BTW!" I bought it to use at my next CCWI Advanced training class. He does not allow IWB and I totally understand why. So I wanted something that was as close to my VMII IWB real deal as possible.

Now that my office is getting accustomed to my new sport jacket on all the time style. That is my next step. Serious. My boss always said nothing wrong with being over dressed. But the alternative just does not work!

I'm with ya on winter making CCW easier. I have been wearing sweatshirts, or an unbuttoned short-sleeve shirt with a long-sleeve white tee underneath. It makes carrying the G19 much easier, especially since I'm still in the process of getting my desired CCW guns ready and listed on my permit (Colt Defender still needs to be modified, S&W 640 is back from the gunsmith and ready to get added)

UPDATE: Just had a fellow employee stick his head in my office. You never been cold, now you have been wearing a jacket all week. Me "its Winter this is my new thing". Him "You must have a short sleeve shirt under there" meaning I am dressing it up with the jacket. I actually do today. Me "yes"

I agree, I'm wearing a Don Hume OWB daily and I can't even tell it's on, my K&D IWB sits in the drawer, in and out of the car always seem to require adjustment where the OWB stays in place all day. I know it's a matter of personal preference though.

This is probably TMI.....anyway late in the movie when surfer dude goes home with truck stop girl. Only to have hubby come home. He runs back to hotel in the buff having to pass through a field in an Ostrich farm "just outside Solvang" to get there.

Said to Miles upon return to hotel "those Ostriches are mean XXXX!!!!"

A short drive down the road is Ostrich Land. In the movie, this is where Jack gets acquainted with some amazing creatures on his “run” from Buellton to Solvang.

Yeah Elephants forget about it!!!

I've never been a IWB person, mostly because I'm fat. The only gun I ever IWB is my Smith 442, in a Center of Mass Tactical kydex clip on holster. Works great. All of my other guns ride OWB in Don Hume 721 OT holsters. I was a Galco and Desantis guy until I stumbled across Hume. For the money, I don't think you'll find a nicer leather holster. And it isn't creak-city like my old Galco's used to. I still like my Galco SS2 shoulder rig though.
