My Dad got suckered into buying one at the Reno Gun Show. He couldn't get it to work. The guy at the show make it look so easy but my Dads kinda old and probably just can't figure it out.

Default Cool idea, but not worth wasting the money

First off, let me say that this holster might serve a very limited purpose to someone, somewhere, and at some point in time. But for most people, I would say it would be almost useless in a self defense situation.

Here's my list:
1) I have to start off making fun of the name. PagerPal? I'm guessing this is a leftover name from back in the 80s or something when this thing was first made. Pagers were obsolete about 15 years ago. Think of a new name guys.

2) Based on the demonstrations it looks like you would need two hands to use this when drawing your weapon. One hand to pull it up and the second to grab your weapon. In a self defense situation, I wouldn't want both hands down at my side. My left hand would probably be defending myself, pushing the BG away, holding off the BG, etc. while I was drawing my weapon with my right.

3) Another way to use this holster is with your hand in your pocket to push it up. Again, in a self-defense situation my hands won't be in my pockets unless I am caught off guard or something and my hands happen to be there. However I don't put my hands in my pockets unless I am getting something out of them.

4) This holster can't be used sitting down. You would need to stand up in order to draw your weapon.

5) This holster just looks like it would be really slow on the draw. You would need to clear your outer clothing, then lift this thing out of your pants, and then draw. This seems way to slow in a situation where you would need your weapon quickly. It's one extra step that is not needed.

6) Crossdraw. I'm not a big fan of this type of carry. Except in the car. Oh, but wait, you can't use this when sitting (see number 4). You can still carry this strong-side, but that still means your other arm needs to come across your body to lift it up. Refer to number 2 about the other arm.

I just felt like making fun of someone or something today. My usual suspects at work are off today and this was the next best thing. I think the name got to me.

Thumbs down

selected quotes from other boards:

Quote:
I've seen more negitive feedback on the Pager Pal then any other "holster"
Quote:
If you want to know what a "Pager Pal" feels like take a coffee cup's saucer and stick it down your pants just below your belt and to one side or the other of the buckle. Wear it this way all day, driving, sitting, standing etc. ALL DAY... Then decide whether this is for you.
Quote:
I own a pagerpal and it's the biggest POS 'holster' I have bought to date. I wont even sell it because I couldn't do that to even a stranger
Quote:
Forget the Pager "POS" Pal...
Quote:
the Pager Pal is even now gathering dust in the "dead Holster Box". It never gets used.

It is not comfortable, it is hard to draw from...and it just didn't work for me.
Besides, who the heck carries or uses a pager now a days?
Quote:
I broke pager after pager after pager after pager! Trying to get a clean smooth draw...If I remember right...I gave it to my dad's doberman to knaw on!
Quote:
Big thumbs down on Pager Pal. I bought a large and a small one at a gun show one time. Found there was no practical reason to use them. Of course, while they may be uncomfortable, they are slow.
Quote:
Don't bother with buying a PagerPal holster. It broke the first time that I put it on about 15 minutes after I opened the package.
Quote:
I have one and hate it. Tried it a few times with a small gun and couldn't make it work without poking me, so its in my box of garbage holsters.

walking or sitting down and it looks like you have a raging hard on.

Knowing that they don't stand behind thir product means that I will neither buy nor recommend one.
Quote:
I bought one about 5 years ago....

Thankfully eBay was around to help me recoup my funds.
In the interest of fairness, I did find *one* good comment:
Quote:
I'll probably get flamed here, but I love the Pager Pal.

Want to hear something ridiculous? I know a several police officers who think PagerPal is the greatest thing since sliced bread

Maybe PagerPal will work good for picking up chicks.

Which brings me to my final quote:

Quote:
Another problem I see with this holster, especially for you younger guys, if you wear it on a date, at the end of the evening, the girl may be expecting a whole lot more than you can deliver.
