Default Comp-Tac MTAC with Beltman Belt

Just wanted to share.

I've had my MTAC for a week now and the difference from the CTAC is considerable. It is (dare I say) comfortable.

The leather backing is big and beefy enough to keep all except the grip off my body. It arrived less than a week after I ordered it and is compatible with all the CTAC stuff I had before. My CTAC has been relegated to my gun-bag for emergencies. I know nothing is perfect and did find one negative. Because of the fuller leather body it forces the gun higher on my body (not just hip) when I sit down. Definitely not bad, but it would be much harder to draw from sitting than with my CTAC.

I also received my Beltman belts. They are definitely nice, but I wouldn't say dressy. Because of the thickness and the heavy stitching they almost look industrial. I ordered mine with the velcro so I could use it with my CTAC/MTAC. I can say that their service was great and Jim was really helpful.

This setup goes a long way in making me feel comfortable when carrying since even with my shirt tucked in there are no holster clips visible. My wife who is used to checking me out was surprised when I made the switch because she didn't see the tell-tale clips.

Because of the tight fit of the belt and holster shorts and a t-shirt seem to work just fine even on my small frame (I'm 5'2").

I'm thinking that I should start a series on CCW for the small guy. I'd love to figure out how to carry a 5" 1911 without people thinking I've got a foil wrapped zucchini in my pocket.

Default love my beltman

I love my beltman belt. It's thick and it's hard to clip my cell phone but
it's amazingly well built. You can't buy a belt of that quality from your
local department store.

I also happen to love my Wilderness Instructor's belt. Less thicker
than the beltman. But since it screams "tactical" I wouldn't
wear it unless I'm dressed casual and my shirt is untucked.

Hey IronPete, you can borrow my TT Gunleather IWB for your Kimber Ultra if you want to compare. If you have a Milt Sparks already then never mind because you'd already know how it feels.

Thanks for posting about this one! I was considering getting the MTAC to replace my CTACs. For some reason my CTAC for my Kimber likes to make "creaking" sounds when I move. I think it is my belt rubbing on the inside of the clip, but I am not sure. When I move it around a little, the sound stops. I might have to look in to getting the velcro now too. I always wear my Wilderness Instructors belt, so it wouldn't be a problem of not having the velcro on a belt I didn't use that much.

Oh, and one question for you: "Do you have any artificial plates or limbs?"

Go with the 1 1/4 belts for a more dress look. Or even a higher end material. IE Elephant, horse hide etc etc. No I have not ordered yet but my newest addiction beyond nice O-Frames are Beltman belts! LOL

Getting ready for my second order. So far 1 1/2 and 1 1/4 Black Bullhide and 1 1/4 Cordova.

I'm waiting for more reviews of MTAC comes in. So I appreciate your review of the product. I have CTAC and I'm not too fond of it. Ever since I got my VM2, CTAC is just collecting dust. CTAC, as with kydex holsters, allows quick
draw but for all day carry, it's pretty uncomfortable. For big guys with lots of meat around the body, it's probably not as bad. But for someone who is skinny, kydex can dig into the meat. So I'm hoping MTAC is the solution.

Just curious, When do you carry? The CTAC and MV2 are inside the waistband holsters concealment holsters (I noticed you don't have a CCW.)

Hygyliac...what are you trying to do, spoil me?!?

Hygyliac: MTACs are not the holsters you're comfortable with...
IronPete:

Heck, you guys already got me hooked into joining the Kimber Club.

I haven't made it over to Evan's yet (still at that other place pending funds) but if anybody wants to try out the MTAC let me know.

Artificial plates or limbs?
Err...not really...

I been using a an MTAC with a Glock 38 for about 6 months, and I'm very happy with it. I also have a CTAC but it know collects dust. I carry for about 14-16 hours a day with no problems. My buddy just got an MTAC for his Glock 36, I wore it the other day for about 3 hours around the house and fell in love with it, I'll be getting a Glock 36 in the next few weeks I would recommend these holsters and it only takes about a week to get them from the time you order.

Thumbs up Now that I can, I'll add to this MTAC thread

I received my Minotaur MTAC Holster from Comp-Tac last Saturday, 5 days after placing my order online. It it the most comfortable IWB I've tried. I have a Summer Special "knock off" (custom build) that will either gather dust or become something I'll use occasionally for appendix carry.

The MTAC I got is for my XDs, yes, all 3, and they're all different sizes:

3" Sub Compact, 4" Compact and 5" Tactical

The Kydex part of the holster is open at the bottom (they call it a "slide" configuration which is a popular term among holster makers). Since they are the same from the front of the the trigger guard back the all fit perfectly, they just don't all three reach the same point in the Kydex. With the exception of the 5", they all stay inside the bottom end of the holster. DISCLAIMER: Those are NOT my XDs being used as models, those are pictures from Comp-Tac's website. What kind of gun is that, a Kimber?

The backing has a second smooth layer of leather where the attachment hardware come through so it slides inside my waistband easily and I can put it on without having to "undo". It comes with the common over the belt clip that locks around the belt (not exactly what is in the picture), and a "C Clip" attachment option is available to grab the belt at the top and bottom allowing very little of the clip to show making it more concealable.

I've not tried a TT or Milt Sparks, but after wearing this holster for a 12 hour day, walking, sitting, driving 3 1/2 hours twice in one day, I've found what is going to work for me. If you have the opportunity to try one you should. I bought mine on faith and recommendations from other owners.

I got my MTac a couple of days ago and I absolutely love it! Sometimes I forget I'm even wearing it! It was one of my better investments. I recommend it to anyone that likes to carry IWB.
