Default MS Summer Special

If you have one, what HG do you carry in it and what comments about it can you share? (The good and bad)

I have one, occasionally use it with a full size 1911, it makes the term "pain in the ass" a reality.

One of the gun mags this month rates if fairly high. With that said, I am always leary about reviews in gun mags.

For a smaller and lighter gun, the holster might work great, but a full size steel 1911, which weighs in just under 40 oz, it HURTS!

I have two or three of them (one original, one a v. II, and another knock off designed by Ayoob). Not terrible, but if a MS VMII is a 10, these are about a 4 or 5. The belt loops are spread far enough apart so the weight all pulls at on area on your belt. the Ayoob version doesn't have snaps, so it is a non-starter for me.

I just ordered a MS VMII in Glock 27 (ships immediately) and a MS VMII in 1911 3" (ships in 6 months!). I ordered the 1911 3" now even though I don't have a 3 " 1911 for it because I know I will get the gun w/in 6 months. But 6 months is a long time to wait for a holster.

I was also thinking about the summer special II in the mean time. Is the summer special worth getting during the wait?

<><> I have the SS-2 for a Kimber
Ultra Carry... The difference between
the SS,,, and the SS-2 is the 2 has the
sweat guard,,, interchangeable belt loops,,,
and it sits a bit lower on the belt... As with
all of Sparks products,,, they both are very
well made...

The holster that I use the most is an Alessi
CQC-I for a Colt CCO... It sits even lower
than the SS-2,,, which for my body shape
works very well for me...

I also have the new Sparks Axiom for OWB
use...That also sits a bit lower on the belt
than most other OWB holsters that I have...
It also pulls the grip of the gun into the body
nice and tight... Of course with an OWB,,, you
will need a longer cover garment...

PT, my SS II is for a commander size gun. I'd be glad to let you play with it for a while if you'd like.

I may take you up on that. I should receive my VMII for the Glock this week. I will play with it and look into it. I never did list my Colt Commander on my CCW so I can't wear it around. But thanks.

I carry my Kimber Ultra CDP II in a Milt Sparks Summer Special II and love it. OCResident came to my rescue when all I had was a Comp-Tac CTAC (readily available). So my opinion was formed by jumping from a medieval torture device into what still feels to me like a luxury rig (by comparison). I had Sparks send me black belt loops for it and changed them out in 30 seconds. As with many of you I'm on the wait list for a VM2 which I ordered in late April, and hope to see it by November. If the SS-II is a 4 or 5 out of 10 I suppose the VM2 will be worth the wait!

I received the Milst Sparks VMII for my Glock 27 this week. I am on my second day with it. It sits much higher than my Galco IWB and I am trying to get used to it. It shows a little more than I am used to so I am working on that. I will see how it works in. I really like that it is reinforced so it draws fast and easy to reholster. Very well constructed and I opted for extra belt loops for different size belts. I am waiting for a stiffer belt to see if it gets easier to wear. Knowing me, I will end up with the Summer Special II as well because half the fun is all the extra magazines, holsters, chronographs, etc.

Which Galco IWB were you using? I'm using a Galco USA with my G27 and am looking for something that rides a bit higher but not too much.

Forgot to mention - I have a Garrity In-Conspicuous I use with my Kahr PM9 which rides at a decent height and doesn't "sink" like the Galco USA. I've ordered one from Garrity for the G27 but it's gonna be a few months due to backorder.

Take a look at the Crossbreed Super Tuck Deluxe - the most comfortable holster I have worn with my Glock 27. I also picked up a Comp-Tac MTAC for my Kel-Tec PF9 - it's very close to the Crossbreed.

I just looked that up ... you can adjust how high or low the gun rides ... sweet!!!! My issue with the Galco USA is that the gun rides too low and sinks below my beltline ... I ordered a Galco Royal Guard which rides slightly higher, we'll see how that works out, if it doesn't then the Crossbreed may be my next purchase.

In the meantime we probably should all get together and hold a "holster swap" since anyone with a CCW has plenty of holsters they don't like and would be happy to trade ... lol
