In the meantime we probably should all get together and hold a "holster swap" since anyone with a CCW has plenty of holsters they don't like and would be happy to trade ... lol
I assure you you will not go wrong with the Crossbreed. I have tried other custom holsters like Highnoon and such - but none comes close to the Crossbreed. The MTAC is also not a bad holster. It is not as flexible as the Crossbreed - but that is due to the setup of the MTAC that allows the outer kydex shells to be swapped out - allowing for different guns in the same holster. With either the Crossbreed or the MTAC you can adjust how high or low it rides - or you canuse the adjustments to further set the cant.

Yes I wish someone held a holster swap. I feel like I could write reviews of just about every holster. It's crazy how many we end up with. Pretty is not always funtional - which was the case with the Highnoon Tailgate holster.

That is really a good idea. Ronin is a new member to the CCW family and was using nylon. He asked if I used nylon, leather or kydex. I actually use all three depending . . . .so I gave him a leather holster for him to try with the instructions . . . "if you like it keep it, I don't need it".
Just paying it forward, a baby step at a time

I had Sparks send me black belt loops for it and changed them out in 30 seconds. As with many of you I'm on the wait list for a VM2 which I ordered in late April, and hope to see it by November. If the SS-II is a 4 or 5 out of 10 I suppose the VM2 will be worth the wait!
I carry both a SSII and a VM2. The VersaMax is a dream come true for me. Both holsters are good, but the VM 2 is so much 'gooder'.
The SS is used for a 3 inch gun, the VM is for my 4 inch. Combine the set-up with a Sparks 1.5 inch gun belt and you are good to go.

It's funny. I've been thinking about the SS, and I remember i loved the way it felt, but I had a major problem - i have no butt. Because the weight was so focused in one spot, i had trouble keeping my pants up. That's why I like the MS VMII - it distributes the weight much better. Now that I'm wearing suspenders, i'll have to try the SS II again.

BTW, I thought I had an old MS belt, but it is a Mitch Rosen. It is an AMAZING quality belt. I would suggest these to anyone!

I have the Galco Skyops tuck-able. I don't use the tuckable feature but it sits just above my belt on my right kidney. Very comfotable. But it is not reinforced so it is hard to re-holster. It sits much lower than the MS VMII.

Buba...
You seem to mention your butt in every third or fouth post...
Look, I'm sure you have a fine butt... but this whole online experience is better when there's a little mystery... Don't you think?

MTAC looks like a good concept product.

On the Sky-Ops are you using the 3 point belt clip? If so, how is it working out? Does it slip off the belt quite often?

FlyboyLDB:
I think it's called the 3 point belt clip. It sits over the waist band of my jeans and under the belt. There are 3 points on this clip which binds the belt. It works ok but allows a lot of movement of the holster for and aft as well as a little up and down.

I think I attached a picture or two. I've now worn it 7 days straight for 3 weeks. Very hot in El Dorado Hills and it's been fine. The Glock 27 butt sits above my waistband. This is the first holster I've CCW'd with so I know nothing still. The holster is a lightweight alternative- very lightweight and not a great draw.

Rick,

He really DOESN'T have a butt! it was shaved off in a trout pond skimming accident.

Having fished that pond I understand how that can happen...

Oh, and Buba... You are 100% correct... I seem to have the opposite of your problem.... Maybe too much of a good thing is possible after all,

Thanks for your cooperation!!!

The 3 point C clip is interesting. I like how the ends of the clips are bent at what looks like a 90 degree angle to go over the belt edge. Most C clips are just straight across the belt edges - which allows it to slip back behind the belt. I also tried the J clips - not so good either as the belt does not support the holster - the J clip only makes contact with the belt when drawing the firearm. So I have went with the velcro clips - which work very well and are stealth. I like the way the sky-ops clips look - keep us updated on how it works out. Thanks

Will do. I also went on the waiting list today for a Summer Special II for a Glock and 1911. A few months out.

Ok, the Galco Royal Guard for the Glock 27 showed up. I love it!! The dual belt loops keep the holster in place securely (unlike my Galco USA with only one belt clip) and it rides at the perfect combat grip angle, and height. At first I was concerned that the higher-riding holster would print more, but in reality it prints *less* because the angle holds the gun in tight to my body so it doesn't stick out when I sit down.

This one's a keeper.
