This is a very similar situation to a College Student with a CCW.
Well I found out that I need to get a CCW on my own to carry off duty. The department policy states that after all three phases of training a reserve "may" be issed a department CCW. It will take about two years to complete all three phases putting in 20 hours or so a month. Needless to say I have decided just to go through the "normal" process to get a standard CCW. I took care of the finger printing today. Now I am just hoping the academy firearms training will qualify
