Default Female carry methods w/ out a purse

I tried searching this section before starting a new thread. So, if there's a topic on this already, sorry!

I was wondering if anyone has any ideas or solutions for carrying concealed (for a woman) without using a purse or baggy clothes. I'm thinking that it's pretty much impossible wearing a tank top and jeans or casual office attire.

The purse does not work for me because I don't always have it on me (i.e. at work/walking around the office) and wearing general slacks and a button up shirt I think I would totally print. I can't always wear a jacket and as I said before I'm usually in jeans and a t-shirt/tank top.

The only way I was thinking was in the small of the back or a belly holster put down way deep. Has anyone had any experience/luck with those? Those two ways seem like they'd be slow but I'm not sure.

I'm not trying to be vain or anything I'm just thinking that it would look totally obvious walking around in a baggy t-shirt all the time.

Sorry for rambling and if this isn't that well written; just got off work and I'm tired.

Oh, I'd be carrying a officer or commander size ... 1911 (wow, go figure!)

Well hate to say it but the Gun Thong OWKA Smart Carry might be the ticket. Otherwise thigh carry, ankle carry and maybe belly band is possible. But heck you can carry a cannon in that purse take advantage!!! Maybe back up in one of the other locations!

Post photos of results! LOLOL )

There is also a webpage by a woman who talks about her journey to find acceptable concealed carry.

Cornered Cat - Table of Contents

Lots of discussion there about what works and what doesn't (in the author's opinion). She also discusses what wardrobe changes can be made without sacrificing either concealability or pretty clothes.

You might also want to browse through the 'women and guns' website. I don't know what they have on the concealed carry issue but you can always look.

Female Instructor carries a 3" Ultra CDP and a Colt Mustang 380 in shorts. PM her.

Small of the back does not work, it's painful and sometimes you lean against the magazine button.

Wow, awesome, thanks so much everyone!

I'll definitely be pming Female Instructor and BexSoCal (I hope they don't care!) and checking out those great links.

I also wanted to add that I'm looking into getting my ccw and going over ideas and what not (hence me joining this site). I didn't want anyone thinking I'm going to be (or am) carrying illegally.

CCWI, it's so funny the details you miss when you haven't done something. I can totally see (after you saying) how yes, small of the back would be uncomfortable and more importantly, you could press the magazine release. My only experience carrying has been at work and I carried it open on my side and shortly after that they didn't want us to carry. SO, I feel that I'm very inexperienced in this arena.

I appreciate everyone's input and I'll definitely be reading this site more thoroughly over the weekend. Thanks again, y'all rock!!

Hey, Do I know you? .....You could have asked me. It's difficult to conceal a 1911 of any size on body carry the way you dress. You could go with light cover garment or a fanny pack. An inside the waist band holster with a cover garment strong side carry, would be the way to go. If you go with this recommendation. You will have to change your wardrobe to accommodate this concealed carry method. Pants or slacks will have to be sized about two inches larger. A good quality gun belt will help distribute the weight of the handgun. TIP: Lightweight versions are good for carry. And no more bending at the waist, to pick things up, or reaching for things up high on the holster side. I bet you didn't even realize some of the people you are aquainted with have CCWs and have been carrying in front of you. And not the people you "know"; who have CCWs. We will talk later.

umkay

Well....concealed is concealed....and a fanny pack in the 21st century with the exception of a fat lady in bicycle shorts at Disneyland...is a dead giveaway.

I have to agree, whenever I see someone with a fanny pack it just SCREAMS gun. Good thing for them I'm a good guy, not so good for them is that the bad guys know this too.

I have carried a fanny pak and felt totally comfortable. It wasn't out of place either since I was fishing at the time and the pak had my lures and stuff in it. Of course I didn't have anything other than fishing gear in the pak.

My point is that you can dress around your weapon and not look out of place. Just dress to fit the circumstances and remember that nothing fits every occasion. Or so they tell me.

To 99.9% of the population in California a fanny pack screams tourist. I've fanny-packed in book stores, hardware stores, and in front of cops and have never felt 'made'. Of course my pack of choice is bright burgundy. Might have something to do with it.

Bright burgundy? Is that a masculine way of saying "pink"?

Try the Mickey Mouse one where Mickey is on the front and his arms wrap around your waist.
