I use compressed air to blow the lint and gunk out weekly or so.
When I go to the range to fire my carry weapon I bring my backup, I never holster a dirty ccw weapon.
I do a field strip after each firing. I use fairly thick goopy stuff on the slide of my P7M8, works wonderful. I left it for 4 months without firing it, then fired off 4 mags of +P+ and it worked like a charm (like all H&Ks do IMHO).
I really want an ultrasonic cleaner that I can dump 3-4 pistols in at the same time but I just don't have the space.
On my kahr I experimented with metal bonding stuff that is dry, it seems to work really well. I just wipe it down with a cloth (tuff cloth or just a paper towel) and everything comes off.
Though, eventually everything ends up at robar once the finish starts to get a little less than perfect. Roguard on the outside and NP3 on the inside. I'm still debating between NP3 all the way around, I like the way it looks but I'm kind of a fan of black. NP3 is not really shiny but it is a bit reflective. Due to the PTFE I'm not sure about racking the slide under stress since it's slippery as hell.
Magazines always get NP3d in metal weapons. In german tupperware it really doesn't make any difference at all..... and as much as it pains me to say it, it probably doesn't make any difference in austrian tupperware either. The "G" word. Ick.
