Default Militec 1

While @ SHOT Show I picked up a sample of Militec 1 and finally got around to give it a try. My test case (ok one of ) is a Kimber Pro Carry II.
I started by stirpping the gun to the frame and thoroughly cleaning it. Next I covered all the moving parts with a fine film of Militec 1 and then dropped everything into the oven for a few minutes (5) at 150F. Next I pulled out the hot potatoes and recovered them again with Militec 1. Another session in the oven (this time probably closer to 10 and I walked away and let it cool down in the oven after the timer ran out). After pulling the parts out of the oven I noticed the following:
1. The film got a bit gooey, but after I wiped the surface the parts well still slick.
2. The parts have a bit of a "shine" to them now.

Let the parts cool a little bit more and I've reassembled the firearm. After the reassembly I ran it through its paces and it seemed to feel nice and smooth. Next test of course is range and to further verify the feel/performance of Militec, I visited the range. Firearm functioned just fine: fed all the ammo I gave it and didn't even give a hint of a hiccup.

Final test had to do with what happens after the range visit. Militec advertises that if you use their product you should be able to clean your firearms after using them for a while withouth the need to use solvents. Surprisignly enough it looks like a true statement. I took a dry wipe and wiped the frame, feed ramp rails and the parts that were covered with Militec cleaned off easier then the parts that weren't. I will do some more experiments with it but I'm pretty confident I'll walk away pleased with the results.

Btw, YMMV.
