Default Kahr P45 feeding problem

I have put more than 500 rounds throughout this and still have problems. I used only factory ammo (Winchester. Federal , Remington). If I load the full 6 rounds in the second round will "stow-pipe" (sp?). If I load only 3 in the magazine it may fire all 3 without problems. Anything more than 3 will show some malfunction. Today at the range one of the instructors looked at the gun and said that actually you can see that the chambering is not complete there is about 1/16 to 1/8 of an travel left and you can almost use your thumb to push the slide forward to totally finish chambering. At this point I am ready to call Kahr and see what they say about it. Anybody had the same issue? Any solutions ?

On a second note I just picked up a Springfield XD9 - I put 250 rounds through it without any issue. No break in no BS just works out of the box...

I have a kaye p380 with same problem. I am about to send it to kahr so they can fix it. I have read it has to.due with the steep feed angle. Kahr will polish the ramp and replace what needs to be replaced to fix this. Common problem with kahrs

I had the same problem last night with my K40. It probably had 400 rounds through it. Last night after around 60 rounds it occasionally didn't want to go into battery. I could press it with my thumb and it would go into battery and fire. I've thought about whether a heavier recoil spring would help. I don't think I was limp wristing it, and from a quick Google search it looks like a common problem.

I believe if you go to kahrs website it will tell you. I believe you have to get ahold of kahr to be approved to send it in and get a service number you can't just send it in. I am sending mine to kahr through the same place I bougt it just so I know I will get the same gun back and they wont try to give me the new ca model. I don't want a magazine dissconect on mine. I haven't looked at kahrs website in awhile so this os just what I think I remember

You can polish the feed ramp yourself and save the trouble of sending it back. It will most likely take care of the issue.

Regardless of Kahr's policy, it is very expensive to ship a firearm. USPS won't take it, UPS and FedEx require expensive shipping options. Expect around 80 dollars, double that if the manufacturer requires you to pay return shipping.

By the way, I have my own problems with a new Kahr PM40 - about ten percent FTF in the first 170 rounds.

My SA 1911 had some ftf issues at first, when not shooting

and over a period of approximate 3 months, I ran a

bore snake up from the magwell over the ramp and

through the bore, although somewhat tedious, it has now

worked flawlessly with all types FMJ JHP FN etc

I called Kahr today - questions about how many rounds, what kind of ammo and how do I chamber the first round.. At the end they said that will send a new recoil spring to see if that helps and if problems not go away will need to send it back... so will see how it goes when the spring comes and replaced.

Probably will help with chambering but I doubt it will help with the failure to load and stow-pipe.

I might have to give them a call about mine having the same problems. Right mow the only thing I have found that works for me is to load 4 jhp self defense rounds and then put 2 fmj on top of those. It seems to do the trick for mine but I just need to get my gun dialed in since it s my carry gun

The new recoil spring came and after 80+ rounds it looks like fixed some issues. I could load up to 5 rounds in the magazine and it worked fine. Chambering was good and it was a lot more pleasure to actually see how how the gun works instead of watching out when it will malfunction. The Springfield XD as always worked flawlessly for the 100 rounds fired. I do have a lot better accuracy with the Springfield than the Kahn but that is a different discussion.

If I can not get to 6 rounds per magazine within other 200 rounds I will give a call to Kahn again and maybe send the gun back to them if needed.

It sucks, but I had to send my P380 back to Kahr twice before they polished the feed ramp and changed enough parts before it was right. Now it's been flawless through hundreds of rounds and I trust it for CCW.

I had to send my PM9 back to Davidsons (Was having light strikes after 800 rounds, and my local pistol smith told me there was something wrong with the internal safety (the striker wouldn't lock back and free floated forward and backward)... I was told Davidson's in turn sent it back to Kahr... Davidsons sent it back to my gun shop a month later and I had to pay a second Cali Fee and wait another 10 days "because I sent it back through the dealer instead of directly to Kahr"... got it back with a note saying it was fixed and the gun had obviously been shot and was very dirty... no other details... I took it apart in the shop and the striker did the same thing... I took it to my range and it failed the same way as before. I sent it back to Kahr directly... 5 days later I got it back with a new slide and striker... it has been perfect every since with all ammo fed which includes over a dozen different types of HP's, FMJ's and plastic tipped HP's... After a few thousand rounds it has never failed and is now one of my preferred carry guns. It is incredibly accurate and comfortable to shoot... This is coming from a long time Glock guy... For what it's worth. I would write a letter, explaining your issues and get an RMA from Kahr... spend the money to ship it back via Kahr's requirements and hopefully like me... you will receive back one of the finest CCW pistols made.

I had similar problems with my P45. Sent it back to them, through my dealer. They polished the feed ramp and replaced the ejector, haven't had a problem since. BTW, Kahr paid all shipping costs.
