Default .410 pistol?

A golf buddy of mine said he saw a .410 pistol while in Europe. He alleges that it is not a cut-down shotgun but real gen-u-wine pistol. Thoughts / Comments?

Thanks!

I know Taurus has the judge, and Thompson Contender has a single shot.

My guess is it's a barrel less than the 18.5" or whatever is the shortest legal shotgun here in Ca. Probably a no-go in Ca.

the judge is not certified for sale in Calif per the DOJ website, http://certguns.doj.ca.gov/safeguns_resp.asp

a man I worked for in the 60's had a 410 pistol, it was about 10" long and very old back then, do not remember the manufacturer

Nothing in .410 with less than a XX" (i can't remember, but i think the minimum length is 18") is legal in CA.

I believe American Arms made one in a derringer too... Lots of things out there for 410. Several will alternately chamber the .45 LC.

Years ago the TC contender had a 45 colt handgun barrel that was also chambered for a 410 shotshell ,I had a friend who purchased a few of them then the state of calif ruled they weren't legal and banned them.Although not legal in Calif they were in other states.

If the barrel is around 10 inches, it might be an H and R Handygun.

Bond Arms Derringers come in 45 Long Colt and will shoot 410s. But you can't get them here. I would carry a Judge if they were legal.
