Default Best solvent / lubricant for CCW guns

Dear Colleagues,

Does it make a difference if one is carrying a wheelgun v. semi-auto handgun in terms of best solvent / lubricant?

Leather v. man-made holster?

Stains on clothing?

I used Breakfree CLP exclusively for 20+ years on pistols, revolvers, rifles and shotguns but recently switched to M-Pro 7 products. I believe they do a much better job and they are not greasy or smelly at all.

I use both leather and kydex holsters depending on the occasion. They both have their place.

Stains on your clothing caused by gun cleaning products?
Don't use oily products. Lube sparingly with a quality CLP (not an oil) and wipe of all excess.

I have been using Militec-1 for the last year with good results, it is dry lubricant.

I still swear by Breakfree CLP. I use a silicon-impregnated cloth to wipe the dust off the outside of the weapon periodically.

.
+1 for the M-Pro products.

I use them exclusively for cleaning. My wife lets me clean guns in the house now.

I use a moly based dry lubricant for the triggers and I use this pink goo I got at a gun show that seems to really work well at staying put and not collecting too much yuck. When I run out of goo I'll go back to some kind of teflon grease or something. Since only one part of the gun gets the goo I don't imagine that'll happen in my lifetime.

I like Break Free CLP. But I have to confess, I still ol' school-it with Hoppes every now and then (love that smell). Handguns are easy, but I try all kinds of stuff when I'm cleaning out the ARs.

This is just plain CRAZY TALK!!!!

Hoppe's #9 solvent/cleaner, Hoppe's #9 gun oil for handguns, plastilube for rifles which require grease or LubriPlate #130-A , now that was easy!

LUBRIPLATE 130-A MIL. SPEC. GREASE at Brownells

Scott Duff Publications & Historic Martial Arms: M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, M1903, Krag, M1911A1 (check the accoutrements section for plastilube)

I still have fond memories as a child as my uncle used old spice and he's the man I looked up to the most.

Didn't have much use for Disco but I always wanted to have a super harry chest with a big Gold Medallion around my neck.

I use breakfree or shooter choice 99% of the time, but I have to admit, I have to do a full cleaning with hoppes once in a while to do a good cleaning becuase it just cleans better than the all in ones do.

I use Hoppes for cleaning, Hoppes oil lubrication and CLP for rust prevention.

To clean? Hoppes #9.

Moving parts get a dab of singer sewing machine oil.

Parkerized finishes get a coat of Castrol 10W30 and wipe off the excess.

I use an insulin syringe to lightly apply CLP oil.
