Greg says that nothing gets him like a woman who wears a dab of Hoppes behind each ear.

An armorer I know at another range uses a fingernail polish bottle/brush to apply oil to slide rails. I didn't ask where he got the bottle.

OTOH I have a lifetime supply of #1, even after supplying three or four other shooters. After all, just a little dab 'll do ya.

SFL #1 seems not to attract dirt & lint at all. To be fair, very little is exposed so that it could attract anything in the first place.

Re: carbon build-up -- given its white color, carbon would be easy to detect. I haven't noticed any. However, being an ex-armorer, I've never really given it a chance to collect any.

You can make your own Grade 0 out of Grade 1 if you know the carrying agent .... maybe try mixing a little oil(multiple types to see what works) with the #1 ..... that's all they do when they make the stuff. Just don't use your wife's blender, or mixer..... they get really pissed. Not to mention that the cookies and bread never taste the same again.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
DEAR GOD NO!

Don't use nail polish bottle brushes. Please trust me. Any Fly Fisher who ties his or her own flies will agree. Clear fingernail polish is a great substitute for head cement to bond the thread so your fly wont unravel. But fingernail polish brushes absolutely suck when trying to get a little product into a small space. If you don't want to use a needle oiler, or a syringe, get a head cement bottle with a bodkin. A bodkin is basically a needle that dips into the cement (oil) to apply a light drop in small, tight places.

Here's the link to the page for this product, from a company that I use for all of my fly tying supplies.

Wouldn't it be easier to just put the flies in a big jar with holes in the lid, rather than tying them up?

Could, but the #1 works just fine. And my wife's cookies and bread are to die for. Don't want to mess with that!

Well, somebody finally did it!
They bought a bunch of SFL-0 and they are selling small quantities to us regular folk (notice I did not say "normal").
