There's a waiting list, but if you have good ref's (read Budweiser or Old Milwakee), i'll push you to the front of the line. I need a couple new vises.

Depends on the type of gun.

Lassen Community College in Susanville has a complete gunsmithing course which uopn successful completion carries an AA degree if you are serious about doing this as a trade...which could get you a nice gov't job doing gunsmithing for law enforcement agencies.

If I lived there I would take the class. No question.

Wow, that looks like a GREAT set of courses, they even slipped in leather working & knifemaking, awesome!

Gunsmithing would be an excellent skill set to have--always work to be found, no matter where you live.

And it's one of the ONLY good ones in the nation according to the NRA member info web page.

Look at the offierings:

Associate in Science Degree in Firearms Repair
Associate in Science Degree in General Gunsmithing
Certificate of Accomplishment in Gunsmith Machinist and Metal Finishing
Certificate of Accomplishment in Long Guns
Certificate of Accomplishment in Pistolsmith
Certificate of Accomplishment in Riflesmith

I'd love to see the GSS 89 LEAS Full Automatic Firearms section. Oh boy!!

Lassen College has a nice campus. Keep in mind that Susanville is a prison town and up until a few years ago it was pretty sleepy. It has been rapidly expanding though in the last few years and they even have a few Starbucks in town now!

I know, I have a cousin who works in the prison as a correctional officer ( I would never do that for a job ).

Post gunsmithing school

Susanville has a good school. I did my time there. My GI bill picked up the bill and I had a blast.
Working and making a good living as a smith is not an easy thing to get done. I know half a dozen broke gunsmiths right now. I'm newly retired and just finished setting up another bench. UPS just brought me a couple boxes of AR parts so I'm going to be having some fun.
