Like most colleges... you don't get good at stuff until you work at it... college gives you the ability to learn to do what you want to do when you get out of school... In application... gunsmithin' school will teach you how to run a mill/lathe etc... how to finish stocks and most importantly how to use a file and then you learn how to really fix stuff when you apply the basic skills and screw stuff up and then have to fix it... QED Good luck... If you know Leroy the local rifle guy, he would be a good one to buy some coffee for and pick his brain...you will often find him at Bear Mtn. Sports...
