Default Turner's Outdoorsman

Turner's Outdoorsman is probably one of the few places that I have been to that actually has a policy stated on their doors regarding CCW. I am paraphrasing, but their gun policy states that guns need to be unloaded with the action open (for non-CCW and guns you expect to "take out" and show to them). If you are CCW (you are not required to unload your weapon), then it must remain in the holster (and concealed). (They don't want you pulling your gun out and showing it off to the guys at the gun counter).

I find this policy to be favorable. Because first, they actually thought about CCW. And second, they could have said no CCW.

Too bad they don't let their store personnel carry weapons. Maybe they wouldn't get robbed by gangbangers so much!

I don't understand. If I'm authorized for CCW and I'm carrying WHY THE HECK should I have to haul out my iron, unload it, and then reholster it just to go into the darn store?

1. While unloading it, I could be cited for "brandishing".
2. While it's out in the open being unloaded people can see that I have a weapon.
3. Concealed means concealed and not visible or subject to "inspection" by people I don't know in a public place.

IMO, their 'policy' should be folded and stuffed.

I think you need to re-read the first post. Turner's wants you to keep your CCW weapon holstered. Any other weapons coming into the store (i.e. you want to sell on consignment, get parts for, have work done on, etc.) need to be unloaded.

What Tango-52 said.

I can see where my post might be confusing about that. I can't go back and edit it but that last part about people with CCW, the gun can remain loaded. The unloaded part is only for people bringing in their guns without CCWs or ones they expect to have out in the open.

RE: Brandishing. Please see this thread http://www.calccw.com/Forums/holster...andishing.html regarding brandishing. Simply having your weapon out in the open in not considered brandishing (PC417).

Edited your original post to clarify. Hope you don't mind Sir.

Good CCW policy, bad customer service. It is funny to listen to their BS/fact when telling a customer about their gun of the week.

Better customer service and pricing then the stockade in my experiance. I bought a G36 from Turners with no special discount for less then the stockade with a LEO discount. And to get the LEO discount they wanted a letter..my ID wasn't enough.

For customer service, go to Ade's Gun Shop in Orange. But sometimes it is hard to turn away from those Turner's weekly specials though.

Every single time I have been to Turner's, I have ended up walking out with nothing......Dessapointing! The counter help is notoriously lacking!
You would think their management would have noticed that by now....No learning curve!

Hbliam, why don't you go to Pro Force in Brea if you are LE? LE distributors generally give better pricing on LE guns, with the condition that it be sold only to LE with accompanying paperwork (possibly letterhead + ID).

I've been to proforce. I just wanted to pick up a cheap gun (Glock) at the time and believe it or not Turners was cheaper then them as well.

What I don't like about Turner's is that they seem to be out of stock on most items. But they do support people with CCW with their store policy.

Default Turner's....

can screw up even a DROS and a 4473...

I do like the prices and most of the guys who are still there do take care of me when I am shopping.

They are a bit ridiculous on their used and consignment prices. Pricing has been at the NIB-95% for something that had more rounds through it than cars on the I10!
