You will not know until you apply, but before you do, do your homework. Read all the post and threads regarding the Bay Area and members experience. I hate to say this but the whole of Bay Area politicians are anti gun.

Im no expert by any means, but SF is a joke considering the recent ban on handguns in the first place! I feel for you and wish you the best of luck.

Sounds like you have a good enough reason for wanting a CCW. The Bay Area isn't CCW friendly but to steal someone else words from this site If You don't shoot you can't score.

From what I hear at this time it is a lost cause. Though it sounds like you have good cause. I believe the only outstanding CCWs out there in SF were forced by Federal Law.

Over the last 10 or so years, San Fransisco has not had more than 10 CCW permits issued in any one year. It has usually been less than that.

san francisco sucks, its too overcrowded, too many criminals, and too many libs, too many bums, too many hippies. if it wasnt for my family living here i would move in a heartbeat.

SF is the place where someone needs to apply, sue upon denial, and take it up to the now conservative Supreme Court. I'm just waiting for the first test case to get up there.

I wouldn't say SF is entirely a lost cause... but they've certainly lost the directions...

They ten that have been issues because PC 12050 says they must be issued. The also have a reverse 12050(G), the SO defer's to the PD. That is not legal.
