Default Good cause question San diego County

I am a new member, so please forgive me if my question has been answered already. I live in San Diego county and I am interested in obtaining a CCW liscense. From everything I have read it seems that the "Good Cause" is the hard part to get approved.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome Mcgyver! I am also a San Diego County resident. I have been registered on this site for a few weeks and have discovered the following:
The local Sheriff, (Bill), is not in favor of CCW at all. There is a post that states all of the SD County reqirements to be approved. Personal defense is not considered a valid Good Cause. I suggest you read through the County application. It will give you a better feel for what you are up against. It appears we in San Diego are not going to have much success in being approved for CCW with the current sheriff in town. Tell everyone you know to vote for a new sheriff next election, if he won'y change his position. I have written him letter and suggest any that live in San Diego County do the same. Let him know how we will vote next election, based on his position.
That is the only way I see we will ever have a chance of changing things.

Default Thaks for the heads up

Thanks for the heads up. I have heard that we are an extremely tough area to get approved in. I will definitely read though the application. I can only wonder what, then would qualify.

Does carrying large amounts of cash for my business matter?
How about thousand of dollars in equipment?

Has any body successfully completed the process in San Diego? If so do you have any pointers.

Unfortunately, the Sheriff is actively denying renewals. He believes that a defenseless public is best. Hopefully, he will retire before the next election. However, I would imagine that his hand-picked successor will have similar beliefs on CCW. We can only hope that a strong CCW candidate will appear so that we can support his campaign. Or, that a change is made in the state legislature that would change CA to shall issue.

Read the FAQ on San Diego requirements. They are listed.
