Default Moving home from Las Vegas

I was just wondering a couple of things before I move back home to Orange County from Las Vegas. I grew up there and have had my CCW in Nevada for about three years. I have a few Friends here that are on metro and we golf together on a regular basis. I was looking into acquiring my California CCW. I am currently in application in other states as well. I was just wondering. I have a very well respected friend at the Orange County Sherrifs Department and was wondering if I could just get some advice on how to go about getting my approval, I do not expect any treatment I was just wondering if I should speak to him about it.
If I have been approved in Nevada does this mean that they have already done a thorough background check? I have no issues I'm just curious.
Do I need to be a resident to apply? I read that you do, I was just wondering f I could get the ball rolling before My wife and I move back in august.

I appreciate any help,

Also be aware that issuance by OCSD is in a state of flux because of the new Sheriff.

Thanks for the info. Can I possibly get some info on the permits? are they not issuing at all?, should I even bother. or should I just go ahead and get started on it now? and do you find it to be easier to get the issuance when already approved?

Everyhing is on hold as of right now. You do need to be a resident. The only thing your friend can do for you is tl you what curent policy is according to his/her understanding. Again, because as of right now there is no policy your fiend will robably be of no help to you.

Read the FAQ on applying in OC.

At the moment OCSD is not issuing at all, we're waiting for the new Sheriff to release her policy. It's expected to be 1-3 weeks or so before it's out.

You can't apply before you move to OC. The only thing you could do is prepare to apply - get your letters of recommendation in order, get your Good Cause statement written up and reviewed - DO NOT POST YOUR GOOD CAUSE -

I think you're asking if it's easier to get a CCW in CA if you already have one from another state. The answer is no. If you've been turned down in another state, it will be much harder to get one in CA. But if you've been issued elsewhere it's not an advantage here.

secondly,
I do appreciate the information on the permits. I will prepare and wait.

No Change. Everything is still up in the air.
