Default What's the easiest city to obtain CCW in Socal?

I remember not long ago Culver City PD was fairly close to "shall issue" as any.

I have lived in Manhattan Beach, Huntington Beach, Glendale, and Sherman Oaks. I'm just coming back from living in Chicago and Boston, and I couldn't be more offended by the general attitude so many large cities have about gun ownership and concealed carry, particularly given the crime rates in most of these. Believe it or not, I'm picking a city where I can exercise my 2nd amendment rights, as intended, and let them use my tax money rather than some other place that refuses to issue permits.

What is the closest-to-shall-issue city in Los Angeles and / or Orange County? I am new to the forum, and while I'll take the time to poke around, it looks like there are some here who help with training and assistance in "good cause" statements, however frustrating the process may be.

About me: Former US Marine, same employer for the last 11 years, no felonies or warrants, fly airplanes and come in and out of Hawthorne Airport late at night...where I've witnessed shootings first hand coming out of the gate...

Experiences and opinions on locations welcome!

All of LA county is very tough. OC is generally considered the best issuing large populated county for issue but is on a temporary hold with a new appointed sheriff.

Check out the FAQs and read up here for a while and most if not all of your questions will be answered.

Thank you for your service and welcome aboard.

BTW we do have a SME here when you are ready to apply and have settled in. Write up your good cause (do not post it on site) and e-mail it to CCWI with GC check in the subject line.

PS The guys I have been building a home for up here own said Hawthorn airport.

Welcome again, what areas did you look into settling down at? Or will you go where the CCW winds take you?

Default Well,

I lived in Manhattan and loved the convenience of living close to Hawthorne Airport and LAX, a short jaunt to Santa Monica, etc...

SPC: who's supposed to own Hawthorne Airport? Last I checked, it belonged to the city, who through some curious dealings has made some long term leases to a number of parties including the newer "Million-Air". Really academically curious...

Hygiliac: I'd consider moving to a CCW friendly community over one that's not, any day...hence the question on a separate thread...

Looking forward to learning more and taking recommendations!

Orange County. Hangar at Fullerton, they just built a bunch of new hangars and cleared out their waiting list.

I thought it was owned by one of my former employers, Northrop Corp.

Not anymore.

Last time I checked the City owned the airport proper, Vaught Corp. bought out all the adjacent aircraft-producing property and was developing it a piece at a time.

There was a proposal to turn the airport into a giant shopping mall. It was pointed out that 1) The Hawthorn Mall was sitting empty and 2) if they did, LAX traffic would no longer stay north of the 105.

I learned to fly there, with the A&E Flying Club.

Default More Socal

A&E is great! I remember when I was a member, Lee Williams would take me up and I tell ya - no man would pound the yoke harder in frustration when he wasn't getting something from ya. No crustier guy with a softer heart

And Bill Goddard, another treasure of a man...really fun club. Another group I miss...

I remember Vought had not yet relinquished the south side of the airport. I had 2 airplanes there, and was waiting for a hangar. Security Aviation had a bit of a lock on all things Hawthorne, which was fairly sad, as the airport really wasn't growing regardless. Security managed to get a long term lease, from what I remember, and then finagle it into selling it altogether to a larger FBO, all without so much as a public hearing or bid...ah, Capitalism...

If only Fullerton had a beach nearby Did they ever rebuild the radio tower after some poor pilot crashed into it?

One of the folks I am building for is a big commercial contractor who did one of the first building rehabs in down town Long Beach for his office. The 4 others have a foreclosure buying business. Perhaps they have one of the leases. I do believe they also have a charter business out of the airport. I could have things wrong though.
