Default Applied Haven't Heard Anything

I applied for my ccw with OCSD and met with melissa at the end of march. So far I haven't heard anything. Melissa is awsome at what she does and I know she is busy so I don't want to bother her. Does anyone know what time frame I am looking at, if or when I should call and check my application status. Could I take my CCW class anyway? Input would be appreciated.

Thanks

could be up to 3 weeks I think to hear back. They do get busy.

You cannot take the 16hr CCW class UNTIL you receive the "Approved for Further Proccessing" letter.

You're due to hear any day now. OC has seen a huge increase in applications since the first of the year.

If it's really been 4 weeks (not to be confused with 10 days that FEELS like 4 weeks ), a polite phone call to inquire if they need any more information and check the status would probably be appropriate. You might have to leave a message and you might not hear back right away, but when I did mine Melissa told me to call her if I hadn't heard anything in 4 weeks.

CCWI might chime in here if he knows what the current backlog is like, but I'm sure it's slammin busy over there.

I called Melissa at the 6 week mark and left a message. She called me back the same day and gave me the thumbs up on the background check. My guess is she's pretty busy. Give her a call.

Or like Ventura County which (at the time of this writing) says it will take OVER 1 yr for the initial approval.

When I met with Melissa about 2 weeks ago for my initial interview and to turn in my application, she told me to call her if I didn't hear back within a week. I called exactly one week later and she had gotten my initial approval back from the lieutenant that morning and emailed everthing to me. She has been awesome-very cooperative and helpful. Hope all goes well for you.

I have been waiting for more than a month. The date I went for my interview was 6/11/08 and have not heard anything. I called Melissa about 2 weeks ago and she told me that the new Sheriff has put all CCW applications on hold. I have been checking the forum on the progress. I hope i dont end up getting the shorter end of the stick.

Thats correct. Everything is still on hold, looks like until the end of the month.

I would not expect letters to be mailed until after August 11th.
