Default Spotty Driving Record?

I've had the following 3 moving violations in the last 5 years. Would they prevent me from getting a CCW in OC?

OC 1/3/2004 - 22103- U-turn in residential district
LA 06/24/2005 – 22350 – Basic speed law
SLO 08/12/2007 – 22349 – Max speed law

However, only the ticket on 6/24/2005 shows on my 10 year DMV record and I have no accidents ever. I also went to traffic school for each ticket. I also intend to disclose the tickets that don't show.

They certainly won't help. But depending on the rest of your information, your good cause, and how you come across in the interview, you may be able to overcome it.

They do show on the LE system. What you get from DMV is what your insurance company gets. Both are differnt from the LE side.

Disclose them of course. I would not be discouraged from applying for a CCW because of them though. However in the future slow down my friend.

Like stated above make sure you disclose them as my instructor said that he has seen more apps denied from omitting than from admitting. I just got my ccw and I had 4-5 tickets in the last 5 years.

Yeah, your right, DMV keeps EVERYTHING 4 EVER. Period.
You may not see it, but LE can see all.

Default your honesty..

is just as important as the facts in the records; I too had 'stuff' on my DMV records and I turned them all in with my app; and the investigator brought it up in my face to face interview. WE actually went over the facts of each incident and more.

I had three speeding tickets on my driving record over the last 5 years. One was taken care of through traffic school. But not the other 2. I too was worried that it may have an effect on my CCW application process. If it did, it did not hold it up for long.

From the time I picked up my application packet to the time I received my CCW was a little over 6 weeks.

It was a pretty painless process for me in Merced county.

I'm a farmer not connected in anyway with law enforcement.

Traffic tickets are just one more item in the mix. How much influence they're going to have depends on the circumstances

I'm making this up for the sake of argument. If you're 26 years old, and you've had 3 tickets in the past year for 60 in a residential zone, driving on the wrong side of the street and tail gating, it's one thing. If you're 56, and in the past 10 years you had tickets for 72 on the freeway, rolling a stop sign and driving with a suction cup on your windshield, it's another.

The people deciding whether or not to issue are people. They have to decide if they believe the applicant is an extremely responsible grown up. Traffic tickets are just one more bit of information they can use.

Do tickets in other states count? Are they able to look that stuff up? Not that I would try to hide it...but if they aren't going to be able to find out about it, why add more fuel to the fire?

Always disclose. If you don't, and they show up, a red flag will go up.
