Default How important is a "Range Letter"

I am curious to know how important is a "range letter" to the CCW application process? Typically how much time does one have to train to get one? I do have two good character letters is that enough? I'm really trying to do my homework to be sure I don't miss anything in the application process, from what I read you have one chance to get it right.

I never got a range letter.

I had 3 people write reference letters. And I made sure the 3 knew the letters were because I was applying for a CCW.

By "range letter" do you mean the certificate for completion of the required firearms/CCW class and range qualification?

One chance is about all you get. A few people have appealed a no decision and ended up with a CCW. It does happen, just no very often.

As for Range Letters... It all depends on your good cause. I know that's not much of an answer...

You're best bet is to talk with someone. I recomend you contact CCWInstructor. Send him a priivate message and ask you're questions. I'm sure he will be able to tell you much more then me.

Good Luck and welcome to the forum.

By "range letter" I mean a good character letter from the shooting range you normally attend.

Precisely. Depending on what your good cause is (do not post it here) you many not need one at all.

Excellent advice. Email CCWInstructor. Put "Good Cause" in the subject line.

The good character letters have to come from someone who knows you well -- a close acquaintance. Unless you are a personal friend of the owner of the range you visit, they can't (and likely won't) give you a "good character" letter. And if he did, it would be as your friend, not as the owner of the range.

You do not need a "Range Letter".
