Default Training?

I am curious; Being kinda the new guy, does this mean training specifically for CCW or fire arms training?

Would my millitary service count towards this training?

I would not be worried about it I am simpply curious.

Not a bad question at all. Generally, the "training" required is specific to CCW, and is approved by the issuing authority. I doubt that military training would count. I'm not saying that it's not good, but just wouldn't cover California's laws regarding use of that firearm in a civilian setting. The ROE is a bit, well, different.

Thank you for your responce. So this training is classroom as well as range. That is a very good set up, and completely understandable.

Usually the training does require both classroom time and a range qualification with your carry weapons.

The training requirement varies from county to county. Usually the classroom training focuses primarily on the laws covering the CCW - what you can and cannot do. Usually the textbook is the (excellent) How to Own a Gun & Stay Out of Jail: California Edition

The range time is generally qualification, not instruction.

Orange County residents on this forum have a great source of information:
Our memeber CCWInstructor is knowledgeable and a lot of experience in the process. In fact, when OCSD hands out the list of approved instructors, his name is right on the top.

CCWInstructor if knowledgeable state wide. Send him a note via Private Message and I'm sure he'll have an answer to any question you may have.

Good luck.

It is for CCW, no military service does not matter. Sorry
