It'll be interesting to see how Heller influences the CCW process.

Constitutional right and legal individual responsibility for self protection + individual right to bear arms to ensure self protection = shall issue?

I started a thread in the New Member's Forum, and then found this thread, so I thought I'd post here as well.

I live in an unincorporated part of Los Angeles County. I work for a LA County department and know a few Deputy Sherriffs.

Even knowing how impossible it might be, I would still like to try for a CCW here in L.A. I know I will need all the help I can get.

Respectfully, I'd appreciate any tips/information that might not be written in these forums.

Has anyone here had any luck on obtaining a CCW?

Another question: Is being an FFL a "good cause"?

Many thanks.

Being an FFL could, if properly written, possibly help with a good cause, but probably not in LA Co.

DO NOT POST YOUR GC PUBLICLY, if you feel you have a reasonable GC you should deal with it by PM on site here.

Hollywood (an area of Los Angeles) is handled by LAPD Hollywood Division 6. WEST Hollywood (which is its own city separate and apart from Los Angeles) is handled by LASO.

A FFL does not work for a good cause with LAPD or LASD.

Default LA County CCW application

If you are going to apply for a CCW in LA County, I would suggest you have a VERY GOOD CAUSE, have a very clean background, and it wouldn't hurt to be in an industry that has inherent security issues.

Before you go forth, I would contact CCWInstructor through this site for invaluable information and advise.

Thanks. I have given up for now. I guess things are indeed as bad as they say. It would seem easier to just uproot and move to OC.

So the LAPD Hollywood Division 6 handles the CCW's here? That link for the county faq says the sheriffs dept handles it.

I have just gone through the LA CCW application like 3 times, and can't find where it says I need references. Is this no longer needed for the LA application?

Perhaps they figure they're not going to issue anyway, so why should they bother with references

Welp, don't get your hopes up about moving to OC. We are going through some *ahem* changes in CCW management here.
