I looked into it, and a $1 mil umbrella policy would run about the same, annually. On a per-month basis, it's not that much. However, the insurance company that I spoke with wants to raise the vehicle liability to $300k... and then at that point, they can add in the umbrella. You'd have to make sure that you can afford the increase in the vehicle policy as well, if you're not already at or near the max they offer. Other insurance companies are probably similar.

Yeah..I have Farmer for a few personal auto polices, but my home owners policy is with another company. My Farmers agent did inform me about consolidating my home with auto to save via umbrella. I chose to keep my current home owners policy separate. I pay more, but the liability insurance is paid for through my business.

I'm sure the cost of liability insurance is NOT what prevents Alameda County residents from pursuing a CCW.

Alot depends on what hours of the day you work.

I have worked swing shifts primarily so that not only can I avoid dealing with daytime work politics, but can avoid traffic as well.

Many people who work in the bay do get creative to say the least.

If you have flexible schedules, many people just work 12 hour days and put in 3 to 4 days per week.

A number of people keep a van or camper in bay area and just crash at work parking lots. They either clean up at work or just join health clubs so they can clean up.

Haven't heard much on San Joaquin county. Last post I say on another forum said they were issuing. Prior sheriff got into trouble with FBI for corruption so we are not hearing alot.

Madera is closest known gun friendly county.

I believe Alameda just changed sheriffs, new guy is probably not much better.

The Bay Area is politically hostile to gun ownership. If they had their way, you would not be able to even own any guns. Climate is definitely enemy territory.

SJCo to Pleasanton isn't necessarily that bad, but depending on where you start end end. Tracy is a lot closer than, say, Stockton, the County Seat.

I "never" take 580 over Altamont. I take Corral Hollow Road, or, rarely, Patterson Pass Road. Longer distance, but much shorter time. Besides, rather than seeing lots of brake lights, I get to see an occasional roadrunner (the kind with feathers and a long tail - the ones that eat rattlesnkes), horses, a few cattle, and even a few turkeys (the kind with feathers, etc.). On the "other" side of the hill, take Greenville or Vasco Road up to 580, or continue on Tesla Road into Pleasanton. From Tracy this should be less than an hour to pretty much anywhere in Pleasanton.

I haven't a clue re: Tracy's CCW situation is.

Well, it looks like I won't be coming to your fair state in the near future. After hammering out the specifics of the contract, the company said "Oh, by the way, you will be working in Oakland, not in Pleasanton; is that OK?"

I said "Oakland? You advertised the job as being in Pleasanton. Sorry, that's a deal breaker."

I like to live close to where I work and I don't want to live in Oakland.

Oakland and Pleasanton are really very similar.

Except for the gangs, drugs, random killing, empty buildings and stuff.
