Hi Everyone,
I’m in the process of applying for a CCW permit in San Joaquin County, CA. A little background: when I first started talking to the Administrative Sergeant to request an application, I was told that I didn’t qualify for a CCW, based on my background (i.e. no special circumstances). I was told that the Sheriff could be held personally liable for any CCW permit that is issued. Thus, few are issued. I eventually called-back, informing them that I’d like to take my chances and apply anyhow. I received the paperwork today, and am working on getting it completed. I have a clean record, and was Honorably Discharged from the Marine Corps. Thus, I have experience w/ the handling and firing of various weapons. I’m hopeful that I can use this background to my advantage. I'm putting together my good-cause statement. Would it be possible to PM someone to have a look at it? Thanks in advance! |

We do not display our good causes on line. I would advise you to PM your good cause to ccwinstructor. He might be able to help.

And that "the Sheriff could be held personally liable" business is a load of crap. Look through your application paperwork and you'll see that you sign a statement specifically releasing the Sheriff from all liability.
