I agree that specifics of MY good cause are not necessarily relevant to another's application. But I did learn a bit of how some elements are prioritized in the decision process, and that may help in guiding someone as they look at their own situations and needs.

It really isn't rocket science. LE wants to believe that CCW holders have a legitimate need, are stable and responsible members of society, and most importantly, aren't loose cannons with latent police ambitions. Although this discretionary process is more "delicate" in a "may issue" state, I doubt that these concerns are unique to California. I'm fortunate that while SD is more stringent than OC, it is reasonable and willing to listen. That's a far cry from LA or SF!
Thanks for sharing what you could. It was very helpful, contrary to some impressions. It isn't specific to my situation, of course, and while I realize there are people stupid enough to try to "copy off a neighbor's paper", I'm not one of them. Like bar exams, there isn't a "right" answer, but you do best when you know and emphasize what the "grader" is looking for, and avoid the no-no's, however irrational they may appear to be.

I truly appreciate your diligence. You're right that if one could write a G/C once, one could do it again.

The responses that I might offer would be limited to generic or fundamental points that can be used to shape a working G/C mindset. The individual would then need to apply that to his or her individual situation and needs. A carbon copy G/C would fly like a big rock and land with a big thud!

I know enough to not offer my particulars to strangers on the Internet. I have a great imagination and can easily plug in "something similar" into any response that would keep the advice valid yet not give up anything private. I've done that in the past (Internet) and can do so again.

These forums are valuable so people can share experiences, opinions and knowledge. Doing it respectfully, without invading privacy or, on the other side, giving up the keys to the castle are not to be taken lightly. The admins are doing a great job keeping this practice in check. I applaud you for your efforts.
