Default Modesto CCW + Bail Bonds

Well, just went to turn in my papers for CCW. FLat out denied. Connie the lady who I made the appointment with last week said that sheriff is not issuing to any bail agents, bail owners, or fugitive recovery (bounty hunters).
I asked why wasn't I made aware of this Before I paid for the CCW class and also Last week when i was given the application.???
She said it is a new policy effective immediately. Also, your CCW class has to be within 90 days per connie. I found the policy on the Stanislaus County Sheriff site that said otherwise. It states that the class has to be within 3 years.
I guess the hand doesn't know what the foot is doing.
I will say, however, that I couldn't get copies or ANYTHING in writing. Only verbally. Also, I requested someone to call me back. Sergeant Ralph Dihmenti called me within 20minutes of my leaving. He said that's the sheriff's position and the policy came into effect august 18th.
So, now it's on to exposed carry, or move to an easier county! Anyone know of an easier county by chance???!

THANKS to all like quietpi and CCWinstructor who helped me along this arduous task.

Sorry to hear that. It does not come as a surprise to me though. More and more counties are doing that. At executive protection to it also.

What is their rationale for denying?

Gee, wonder why they won't put their denial in writing?!?

They probably figure the liability is way higher with bail bonds and security guards. Other than that, I can't understand it. This is why we need "right to carry" in all 50 states.

It's easy to understand. Sheriff's don't want Non LEO's encroaching on Retiree second career opportunities.

Aren't they required to put the denial in writing?
It seems to me I read that somewhere.
Besides, if people are denied verbally, or are not even allowed to apply, that would screw up the statistics for someone who may be doing research on the equity of the process, would it not?
Such was the case here in Fresno County a couple of years ago until we replaced our sheriff with a more CCW freindly one.

It sounds like they are trying to do a "denial by runaround". Make them follow the formal process. They are required to accept the application and to deny it in writing.

Kern also has a policy very much like this...
They will issue to bail agents/Security Guards who are buisness owners who are carrying because they make the deposits etc. and need it for that...
Security Guards are flat out denied... if they are carrying for business reasons... if they are the victim of a crime or have a restraining order against a stalker or something they might get a permit... but if they have to shoot someone while working, and they were carrying concealed, ie: bodyguarding... they are likely to get the permit pulled.
Sorry for you... it is about time we pushed to get the law changed... maybe in a few years it will happen... Shall Issue is the goal
