Default NRA,CCW's & Sheriff Bill Brown, Goleta CA.

After eight years with two former sheriff's who did support CCW's here in Goleta ..... now thanks to the NRA in supporting a new sheriff "Bill Brown" that is anti-gun I and many others have been denied renewal of our CCW's as they come up for renewal.

Sorry to hear

i never thought of Santa Barbara to be an issuing county to any regular citizens.

in 2007 it had 163 permits out.

You are also not alone, Orange County BOS appointed a Sheriff that pretty much does not believe citizens need a CCW either

OC citizens are receiving silimar letters

Things are being done and hopfully all of this will be turned around.

Stick around, CalCCW is a great forum!

Yeah...it's too bad.
The blogs bashing the NRA kinda irked me. You guys aren't making any points with that. I'd stick to the subject at hand.

Sorry man, but if the NRA were to endorse Baca, Hutchens or Munks, I would think some bashing is in order. This is no different.

I agree, they deserve their bashing, and more.

Point taken. Perhaps they made some mistakes here, but I'm a member of the NRA and appreciate the organization.

Just my 2 cents.

Over all the NRA is probably our strongest asset for keeping the anti-gun factions in place. Perfect, no but who else stands up for our firearm rights with the strength of around 4 million members.

I have been a member for close to 30 years and still throw away most of their mailings for $ after a brief viewing.

Was involved and a board member "NRA members council" here locally Santa Barbara and a voting member of the NRA.No longer a member of NRA or NRA members council board member.Long story and many years involved to see a bigger gimps of the NRA from the inside and not liking what i see.The mailers you got in the mail are one of them. Any idea who put them out? I found out and how much they got for each mailer regales if they got the person to send in a contribution.Who is the NRA...its you and me and your money. Not here to bash or have you not re up...just presenting a side you probably do not get to see.I want accountability of my members dollars and to the general membership. The NRA backing Bill Brown is just another example of the lack of accountability i have run into.I no longer have my CCW after 8 years thanks to Bill Brown stance on CCW's and the help of the NRA to get him elected.See link....The War on Guns: Bill Brown: Still Elitist After All These Years
It's My experiences over the years involved with gun rights issue.

Look...you may have an "insider's" knowledge, we don't. It wouldnt' surprise me that parts of the NRA are messed up (this sheriff as an example).

I'm looking at the greater good here. Without the NRA...we'd be screwed.

I have had my issues with the NRA as well and was a non-member for a couple of years as well, but I still see them as an over all need. Again, they are not perfect but the good they do out weighs their mistakes.
