Default OC CCW Incidents?

Just out of curiosity ................. has there been any OC CCW holders involved in any incidents? If so, was it just brandishing the firearm to prevent a criminal act from happening, or was the firearm discharged in a lawful manner?

There have been 39 Permits revoked in OC.... 13 of those were reserves. 26 were Regular Resident permits. If we (wrongly) assume they all were revoked for violating the law in some way, that works out to about 3% of permitholders.

But, I have confirmed that at least some of those (and it stands to reason that its probably a good number) were "revoked" simply because they moved out of the County, and are no longer residents and/or reserves under the jurisdiction of the Orange County Sheriff. (Example- one reserve who is listed as "revoked" is now serving the Glendale PD as a reservist.) Under the rules, when you move, you MUST notify the Sheriff, and your permit expires (aka "is revoked") 90 days later.

Ive found others who were arrested for incidents NOT involving their CCW permit (for example, one was busted for manufacturing Meth.) That's bad, but its not as if the permit had anything directly to do with their lawlessness.

Finally there are some others that clearly abused/broke the law WITH THEIR GUNS/PERMITS.... (one was involved with what can best be described as a drunken hate crime, and was RIGHTFULLY charged with PC12031).

Taking all of that into consideration, given there are close to 1100 permits issued, the % of permit holders who abuse their permits, or in other ways violate the law, is VERY, VERY LOW.

Something in the neighborhood of 1% would be my estimate.

How many of those reserves who had their permits revoked were Carona cronies who were appointed as reserves without meeting POST-mandated background checks and/or the minimum required POST training? I would consider those who had their CCW permits revoked for not meeting peace officer background and/or training standards had their permits revoked "for cause."

I dont know the exhaustive list of who were supposed to be "Cronies" (and that issue was resolved a LONG time ago???).

BUT... There were only 13 reserves TOTAL who had their permits revoked for any cause (including relocation)... So one way or the other, it doesn't amount to ANYTHING....

ZERO!!!! I have the list. Most the revoked reserves were not even OCSD reserves. If you knew anything about those 86 and had your facts correct, you would know the had the 2 year general CCW. NOT the 4 year reserve CCW.

I hate it when people try to argue with stale or incorrect data.

Especially when you consider you have 25 Judges running around the county on THREE YEAR permits with NO POST TRAINING OF ANY SORT... POST training seems pretty irrelevant to the issue....

Do you know the start date of that total? 39 permits revoked since the formation of the county? Since Y2k?

Considering one reserve left the department 8 years ago, I'd guess 2000.

Excellent!

Extrapolate those number over the course of 8 years, and its what??? 5 permits "revoked" per year? Less than .5 of a percent of the outstanding permits per year! And that includes the "movers".

Thats about as close to PERFECT as any program can ever hope to get.

My father's CCW was "revoked" in 2004, after I notified the OCSD that he'd died. I'd guess there are as many deaths as "movers" - and that would account for virtually all the permits in question.

I was asking a question, which CCWInstructor answered, not making an arguement.
