Default How do you carry your CCW permit?

I was wondering how everyone carries there CCW permit. I plan to carry mine in my wallet so I always have it on me. The only problem with this is it obviously is going to have to be folded to fit inside my wallet. I am also concerned that it may start to show wear very soon as it is just paper. Is it legal to laminate it so at least while it is folded in my wallet it will be a bit better protected? I appreciate any input anyone has.

Thanks
Sean....

Default My CCW

My CCW is folded into quarters and placed inside a plastic sleeve. I have it behind my DL along with my NH permit.

It's a bad idea to laminate it, as then it looks 'different' from a normal one, and the LEO might want to call it in to check.

Save them the trouble, just fold it neatly and put it behind your DL, preferably between that and another flat ID card (I use my Utah permit ). It'll keep just fine.

Folded in half between my DL and a picture of my daughter. It's pretty well protected from wear, I don't take the stack out of my wallet very often.

I've had mine folded behind my DL for about a year now, and it's showing no signs of wear. They hold up better then you think.

To laminate is a personal choice... Some do, some (most?) don't... But there's nothing I know of (here in OC anyway) saying you can't.

As long as you don't take it out and play with it , it will last the two years just fine folded and tucked behind your DL.

Cal Penal code $12051 specifically says it CAN be laminated.... And LAPD reserves are. (probably one of the BIGGEST group of CCW permit holders in the state.)

Folded in quarters in between my driver license and another state's CCW. Neither ever comes out - I get carded maybe once a year and haven't been pulled over in 10+ years - so the CCW gets no wear at all.

But if I do get pulled over I can pull out the DL and CCW in one shot.

When did that happen? The last I knew was that LAPD reserves had a CCW endorsement on the back of their LAPD ID cards. There was no "rice paper" issued.

Well then... You've learned something new... Haven't you?

The last one I saw (6 months ago?) was a standard rice paper, folded in half, with a Photo and laminated.

I have a wallet that has windows at opposite ends when opened.

1/2 open with 4 credtit card slots

Full open with 6 dredit card slots and two ID windows.

Before I retired, I used one window for my drivers license, and the other for my profesional license. I now use one for my CA ID card and will use the other for my CCW when I get it. I really like that I could show my CA DL without showing the profesional license, or vice versa. The wallet was given to me by my late mother in-law. She was the queen of mail order catalogs. It was inexspensive and has held up for many years. My wife and I are trying to figure out what catalog it came from, then I'll post the web page for it. I think the men here who only want to carry a wallet, will find this helpful. Personally, I hated to carry a briefcase or daytimer type of files.
