...Department visited my home yesterday to checkup on who lived/owned the home. Unfortunately I wasn’t home, but they did talk to my son and asked him who all lived at the home and how owned the home. After the Officer showed my son his credentials my son answered his questions. After leaving my home my son watched him visiting our neighbor’s homes.
Today is my CCW training class at the Sheriff’s Academy. I was so nervous/excited about this class I woke up at 2:30am this morning! I just hope I don’t start to fall asleep in the class now! Almost there people. ![]()

I'm glad that you are able to get approved for a ccw in San Berdoo Glock36, but that is a ridiculous number of hoops to jump through.
Here in Az., there is no interview, no visit to the neighbors, no visit to my home, no record of who lives here, and I had my permit two weeks after the class. I lived in Ca. previously though for 25 years, and the rural county I lived in {San Benito} was about the hardest county to get a permit. Congrats. |

...from the Sheriff's training class. The class started at 9am and finished around 2pm. The class was pretty informative. There was around 34 students in the class. I'll keep the board posted on any new updates.

Hey Glock36,
I was there today too, I'm not sure if you were the one I talked to. I know there was at least one other calccw person there. I was surprised by how little experience it seemed people had, especially during the range portion. I'm no expert but damn. Some of those people were struggling to shoot 10 rounds w/ a reload from 3 yards. I wish I had a vest like that one guy. Overall, I got more from it then I thought I would. good luck... |

...my wife called me at the office earlier today and informed me that I received an envelope today in the mail from SBSD. I asked her not to open the envelope and that I'd be right home. I got home within 15 minutes. I thought my CCW permit arrived so I rushed home. Well when I got home I opened the envelope addressed from SBSD and it was the "Course Receipt" from my training at the SBSD training center that I took back July 26. On the way home from the office I was so excited about finally getting my CCW! What A Bad Joke!

…it’s been about three weeks since I took the class at SBSD and still haven’t heard anything about my CCW process…negative or positive from the SD. I was thinking about calling Ken to see how my application process was going, but I don’t want to offend him for obvious reasons. My interview date was 07-03-08 with Ken and it seemed to go well. Someone from the SD visited my home on 07-25-08 for residency verification. On 07-26-08 I had my training class at SBSD.
Am I being too impatient? So in regards to my title for this message (Appropriate or Not???...) do you think Ken would mind if I emailed him my concerns regarding my CCW process? Basically asking him if everything was going fine with my CCW application process.

If you decide to contact him, please let us know the outcome. My timeline is almost exactly the same as yours so I have the same concerns. I can tell you that during my interview, which was August 9th, Ken said it would be "at least 90 days out".
Good Luck |

90 days from the interview? Jeez. Naah, I suppose I better just be patient and wait. I'm assuming they'll approve/deny our applications for the class of July 26 and then present the applications they approve to the Sheriff/Deputy Sheriff for their signature on the CCW permits at one time. I suppose that makes the most sense for time constraints for the department. But boy, does it bite for us! ![]()

FWIW;
Not that anyone here would ever do such a thing, but I would be very careful about any post's on a forum from anyone residing in a "may issue" state. Even the slightest critical evaluation of the process could cause some forum trolling bureaucrat to deny a person. just a thought.... |
