Default Turned in my app with the San Joaquin Sheriff

Today I turned in my paperwork with the San Joaquin County Sheriff's office. The sergeant said it could take 6 weeks. Seems like a long time. Anyone been successful with Sheriff Steve Moore? I heard he’s CCW friendly, but never meet anyone that’s actually gotten a CCW from him. Anyway, Ill let you all know how it goes. Thanks for all the great info.

Welcome aboard pdomench (is that packing dot org?) I wish you the best and hope you did a little research here as well, making your chances perhaps a little better.

"packing dot org?" I don't understand. Yes I did alot of research. I've been reading stuff on this website since Aug. of last year. I think I got a pretty good shot because I collect money for a living, but I'm afraid my age will hurt me. The sergeant I met with was really nice and even told me I had a good chance, but the sheriff might want to talk to me in person because of my age.

PDO was a national website regarding CCW and is now defunct. Therefore my question because of your screen name.

Best of luck and keep us appraised of your progress.

I don't remember if I was ever a member of PDO. I don't think so, but I have researched many a website on CCWs so it's a possibility.

Update

Called the Sheriff's office today cuz I had to to change my address. The Seargeant said my app will be going to the Sheriff's desk today or tomarrow. Hopefully that means I should know if I'm approved in a couple days. Starting to get a little nervous, but confident.

Good luck with that...

I applied with him last year i believe after being denied with Manteca PD. Being a paramedic in the county and having the possiblity of running into criminals that I have helped treated and had actually having a non violent/threatening encounter with was a no go in his eyes. Didnt justify it at all. The Sgt also told me I had a good chance of approval when I applied.

Best of luck to you.

I'm your age also, and my Sheriff issued to me, so don't lose hope.

yeah i know 6 weeks aint bad but its still to long if you ask me. When I put in my app for a CCW it was because I needed it for my job. I can't stop doing my job while I wait for my app to be approved, but thats just the way it goes.

I'd rather wait to get my CCW, than not get one at all. My life is worth the wait if i was faced with a waiting period.

6 weeks is NOTHING. Some counties is 9months before they even give you the Interview!

Well said, in the case of San Bernardino it got that way because of shear volume of applications, L.A. County is a lost cause, and Ventura Co. will make you wait for ever and ever, a year plus!.
In some cases, I suspect foul play, an attitude towards issuing CCWs. L.A. is obvious. The sheriffs of other counties are just being deceitful. They simply lack the intestinal fortitude to inform their citizens as to the real situation, they play the delaying games, so you never really know!. This is America! We are supposed to be above that! I think San Bernardino Co. sheriff is a shining star!
